["Ivor Canning" Subject: RE: [AVALON] Bryan on Taratata Thanks so much for that link! I loved the performances and the interview. Very funny about being the only man teaching in a girls' school. Reminded me of that Fast Show character: "Me... the only man teaching in a girls' school? Are they mad?" Parts of the interview are in French but you can get the gist of what is being said. He performs "Thom Thumb's Blues" and "Make You Feel My Love" where he duets with Carla Bruni. He's not with the full band, looks like just Ollie, Leo & Colin. It's a good little interview and he is asked about the Roxy Music album!! He is the first guest on. The concert halted for a certain couple of minutes Finally they brought him one from backstage... Can't tell you if he uses a different (range) one nowadays But he plays it differently, there is that 'wah wah' sound This is typical for the overall Roxy/Ferry-solo sound e.g. Andy's sax on If There Is Something e.g Guitar on When She Walks In The Room Question: Name a typical Roxy/Ferry instrument Through the years and from time to time you can hear it 2HB > Datum: 18/03/07 09:32 AM > Van: "danyellow" > Aan: "avalon" > CC: > Onderwerp : [AVALON] Roxy Harmonic > > Hi Kids > just a technical question.... > does anybody know which kind of harmonica Ferry plays? > > thanks a lot > > > do re mi fa d an > > > ___________________________________________________________________________ > To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon > > > - -------------------------------------

Just to say it was absolutely fantastic - my daughter (25 y.o.) appeared to be about the youngest in the downstairs audience, however, it was her who had managed to get us superb 2nd row seats - never been so close to Bryan - just brilliant. He looked and sounded great (set list on vivaroxymusic - great that JLY was included - I was sweating on that) . I can only re-iterate the comments from fellow avalonians following the previous dates ref the overall quality of the show. It was certainly one of the best or if not THE best time I have seen Bryan or Roxy live over 35 years since '72 and I have seen him at least 18 times. Oliver Thompson was excellent what a find he is ! Perhaps it will soon be TGOT?? The crowd really got going towards the end - no encore though. Wish I had bought tickets for Cardiff aswell now! I can't believe that BF has given me and my family so much pleasure over the years .My Wife, Son (16), Daughter, and even my 80 (+) year old Parents are fans that have accompanied me to shows in the past. (I took my Parents to the Westonburt Arboretum show a couple of years back). People should not really have anything to complain about he's still going strong!!! Was anyone else at the Colston Hall on Friday? Anyone else catch the cheeky reference to Bry on the BBC 1 TV Breakfast programme last Friday morning ? The Beeb were conducting a 'vox pop' item on the pros and cons of a left or right hair parting (it's a long story...) amongst people on a main shopping street. A small group of young women were responding, quite vehemently, as follows: 'Partings? ... Urghh, no, men shouldn't have partings ... That's a right turn-off ... That's something older men have.' At which precise point, the camera switched, full-frame, to an image of Mr Ferry's face - an M&S advertising display, taken through the window. Momentary it may have have been - almost subliminal - but it was quite deliberate and pre-meditated ! Regards, Ivor n.p.
