I would have been satisfied by one gem Just Like you out of the archives, but I got The In Crowd, This Island Earth, Kiss and Tell When she walks in the Room which for me was a show stopper and should have gone on longer. Did I see Guy Pratt on backing vocals? Fantastic. Tokyo Joe was the only dodgy one for me, think should be dropped. Same applies for Smoke gets in your eyes. The new tracks as expected come over better live than on cd, for me the cd is all one tone but live it really kicks in a couple of times. Good to see Mr Fez hold back to the intro of The In Crowd, and walk on like the old days. Think he should exaggerate this even more with a longer intro, creating more anticipation. Might of whipped the grannies in the front row into a frenzie. This was Ferry Solo doing what he wants, and have to say doing exactly what we want which is terrific, but I guess a lot went over a rather subdued audiences head. It's hard to pick out the best Dylan songs of the night, they all came over really well, Gotta go, yes missing the next two weeks, all my local shows, But I will be back! I only gave the BBC session 2/10 it came across bad ?, But tonight WOW. Bryan and the band in top form . I would have to rate this in my top 5 Ferry Giggs. got a little worried after watching the BBC attempt it must have been recorded bad or my tv is junk. ( and Ive got a good TV.) Will not spoil it for anyone, only Tokyo Joe needs a little more practise, The rest was perfect. The Crowd were very appreciative but a little subdued ( to many pensioners brought there mums & dads ? ) The Stage Crawl / shuffle only happened at Let's Stick Together. and we had to line up with our toes not touching a white line 2 feet from the stage. Bryan's Harmonica broke down half way through, ( Any Suggestions ? ) but it was either fixed or a replacement found, It did not seem to affect him though. Before anybody gets too carried away with fantasy setlists etc........ I think that the setlist will change drastically and quickly from last nights show, due to the audience reaction or lack of it to the majority of the songs. At one point about half way through Bryan said rather apologetically "er... sorry this is another new one". Nobody got up until the last two songs.....and then it was over....a real lack of buzz and excitement in the 'general' audience afterwards. Personally I enjoyed the show, great to hear a new setlist, the band played brilliantly, I have to say Leo shone above the others -superb playing. A rare sight- Guy Pratt on keyboards for one song. Strange place for a show -basically a hall attached to a leisure centre, with not a single poster anywhere or ANYTHING to suggest that there was a Bryan Ferry show happening at anytime, let alone on that day. Great to meet up with JohnO'B, Alan/Douglas, Mark ,Rhada and Graham(Avalon lurker). Will be interesting to compare the Carlisle setlist with the Newcastle one. Wouldn't particularly concern me if some of the 'fringe' Dylan stuff is dropped as long as LMMA, TIE etc are kept in. The reality is, 'fans' not as clued in as us lot probably thought WSWITR is off Dylanesque. The slight time-lag between the tour starting and the release of the album is unfortunate but I would expect audiences to warm up as the tour progresses. The last tour I can remember which started before the album was released (apart from the last Roxy tour :-)) was the 'Siren' tour, though it didn't seem to made any difference to the audience reaction back then (we are all 30 odd yrs older though!). Also I can't imagine Carlisle is a particular Ferry 'hotspot'. In fact the venue's Manager has described Ferry's appearance as the pinnacle of it's history.
