If it sells as many copies in its first week as there are 'promos' then it should comfortably make the top 20. Seriously though there have been some interesting and varied reviews. Normally when you read an album has received 'mixed reviews' it means its pants, but the jury seems to be out on this one. Long gone are the days when I had to hear Roxy/Ferry material at the earliest opportunity. I remember back in 1978 that the original release date for The Bride Stripped bare had been put back because of changes to the tracklisting - I kept bugging my local record store 'has the new Bryan Ferry album arrived yet?' Any guesses as to where the album might debut. I suppose it depends on how much airplay the single gets and if Bryan picks the 'right' songs for potential TV appearances. I'll stick my neck out and go for new entry at number 12. And, like a lot of his countrymen, wouldn't approach Dylan or anyone without having been introduced. Tis true, many of his rock peers would be giving His Bobness thumbs up and knowing winks, but that ain't the cool ruler's way. Thank God. Dylan's demeanour in this clip could be interpreted as "bored" or "uncomfortable." In reality I'm sure, sitting on those ghastly thrones, he found the whole exercise at odds with his thinking. I think Dylan will like Dylanesque. I think the public will like Dylanesque. Avalonions pining for Ladytron 2007 and an urn containing G Simpson's ashes on the piano will be disappointed... Martin, I hope you are right about the public's reception of "Dylanesque" - perhaps it is not too far flung to think that the US market, if cajoled correctly, just might take a shine to Mr. Ferry's homage of the iconic and revered Mr. Dylan. Ladytron 2007 - Ha! As I've stated before, let's all be happy for the wonderful music that BF/RM has given us in days of yore. Lowered expectations are easier to delight than are great expectations. Best wishes. Mr. Ferry has been recently quoted saying that he has never been introduced to and has not met Bob Dylan - not even in Stockholm. Not really KP. I tend to get annoyed when folks complain about lack of output ad infinitum. Complaining about poor quality work compared to what he has achieved in the past is another thing entirely. Incidentally I copped a listen of Dylanesque today and while I feel it starts very strongly, it does tail off a little towards the end. Expect it to work very well indeed live though. I predicict it will chart at number 8 in the UK listings.
