They could be uploaded somewhere, we could have a poll and forward the three chosen ones to Ferry's management! Ah, but maybe he would postpone the album for three years then... He might call a spade a spade but he knows which side his bread is buttered! A man in Morley's position can afford to choose the work he does. His 'wonderful' comment came not in the sleveenotes, but in his Observer column last Sunday, after they were submitted. He could just as easily have said it was bollocks. I accept that his lugubrious Mancunian 'homme-du-monde' TV persona doesn't suit everyone, but I've been reading his stuff for almost 30 years, since he was at the NME, and it is always witty, knowledgeable and trenchant. What makes him any less of a hired hack than Morley? And why wasn't he retained for Dylanesque if he was so marvellous?" Because he has provided very strong commentry on the band in the past (see his excellent book 'The Nineties' amongst many other insightful pieces on the band), has what promises to be THE Roxy book on the way (to coincide with the album) and is a much respected and admired social commentator within the industry. Why wasn't Bracewell retained for Dylanesque if he is so marvellous, you ask. I have no idea. Maybe he was too busy finishing his book or maybe, as the album cover suggests, the Ferry camp went for the cheaper option. ?"A man in Morley's position can afford to choose the work he does." In what position? Prone on the floor coated in his own sick? ;) He's a jobbing journalist. Just cause he's on the telly doesn't mean he can afford to turn work down.
