But how about 'copied' the idea. Rod, or his management must have been aware of the Ferry release. I think the main problem with Ferry fans is that Rod sold 4 million plus copies of the first volume alone. Whereas I believe ATGB barely crept into the US top 200. Still ATGB was acclaimed Bryan's biggest solo seller in some territories - where I don't know, probably Andorra and San Marino. That song has been around a long time for anyone to sing. In fact Rod went on to make four more old standards album. I didn't see Ferry continue on he stopped at just that one.---You'd have to say that many many others such as Tony Bennett, have sung those old songs. With a good producer & people buying makes for a huge success no matter what is recorded. Just tell me, why does Bryan sit on his honches & let the world go by while others are busy recording. If not their written stuff at least recording something & its selling!!!!!! Thats what I'm talking about!!!!! You might as well accuse George Michael, Robert Palmer and - god forbid! - Status Quo of copying ATGB which I don't think for a minute they did. And to be honest, Rod's albums have duets and guest appearances from other artists which makes his covers quite different from Bryans. Of course I am, vain thing that I am. But alas my hard drive has died and I am working with someone to transfer data to a separate drive before holding a reverential funeral service for my "best friend". After a suitable but hopefully short time, I will be up and running with a new machine (am writing this from a friend's machine) and able to defend and promote the Eno brothers with the vigour you'd expect of me. But no holidays for me for the short term now what with the possible jaunt to NY for Bowie's live concert appearance next May (yet another sexagenarian who does not allow grass to grow 'neath feet - just what IS Ferry doing with his time that can cause him any artistic satisfaction nowadays? Oh yes, the nifty airbrush on his jaw in the M&S Autograph series...). Thanks, Jocelyn!
