Therefore I was glad to get a photopass for the Roxy concert at Bospop so I could make a lot of photos for those people who have always been enthusiastic about my pics of the infamous Frantic or Re-make/Re-model. I ended up with 1200 pics all in all, which indeed don't even fit on 1 dvd... From those I've selected the best ones and editted them for the review. The limit we've set ourselves is 100 pics per band, but I had too many. Now all you need to do is get the url of one photo and change the last number to something between 100 and 189 to see the rest of the pics ;) The review can be found at: www.reflectionsofdarkness.com If you'd like to have a look around at the webzine feel free to do so. There's not just metal, electro of folk there but we have quite a few 70's/80's bands like Deep Purple, Fish, Journey, Roger Waters, ... If you definately don't want to see any of the other articles or you will look at this message after a while and it's no longer on the front page: http://www.reflectionsofdarkness.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1155&Itemid=43 Please send this link to all your Roxy friends, remember all the hits our reviews get will get us more photopasses next time to report more concerts! Could this be the one?: From The Peninsula, Quatar: Hotel chain checks in on music scene Once rock stars would trash hotels to the despair of their owners. The general consensus of those there was that it was a great gig - as Reecey said, it was a joy to be there. Out of the two I went to, Cork comes out on top, but only marginally. Nigel Hollis and I were discussing it (no change there then!), we can't quite put our finger on why it was so good. Something to do with no anticipation of new material perhaps, we knew what we were going to get (give or take) so couldn't be disappointed so far as the set was concerned. Nigel says he's getting a bit worried because he's again started to enjoy JG. I empathise with that too. Maybe it was because it was the last show of the tour, maybe it's because we won't get to hear it again (saying this with fingers crossed) so we were out to enjoy. The crowd turned out to be enthusastic too, despite misgiving about them whilst queuing. It was extremely hot and people were getting fractious. I didn't see much of the crowd generally, being at the front, but Nigel said there was a mixed age range. Obviously the hits went down well with the masses, but they did seem to enjoy it all. The band appeared to be enjoying themselves. The new guitarists fitted in well, yet added something too. TGPT was missed, although Andy Newmark did a good job (better than he was at Cork). I read that people thought Phil stole the show, but for Nigel and I, it was Andy. He was just Andy Mackay, Roxy Music. Brilliant. Like Mark, I could do without the long intro to Song for Europe. It's unnecessary, but Len (and nice to see you looking so well), I thought My Only Love was better than it has been for a long time, but then, I think Ollie is a great find. The reviews from The Times and The Independent didn't do the gig any favours. They should've asked US. It was great to see everyone again, and Mikal, thanks for your very welcome company. The news about the new album is a little worrying, but no doubt we'll all meet again in 2007 despite what we might say..... The gig really blew me away, especially hearing the early stuff. A highlight for me was 'Out of the Blue' - that song is always more amazing live. I think I enjoyed Dreamhome more in Glasgow in 2001, thought the music drowned the words out a little in places (or maybe that's just me). But great to hear live again. The guitarist were great: Oliver Thompson (is he related to Paul?), Guy Pratt, Phil, and I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the other one. I didn't know Guy Pratt had played with Robert Palmer and Pink Floyd among many other people!! I thought Oliver was brilliant in his solo bit - totally into it. Andy did a fantastic job, liked it when he rested his foot on one of the speakers (was it a speaker?). Yeah we did miss Paul, but the drummer did a great job. Hope Paul is better soon. And, as for Bryan, well he's looking very good at 60 and seemed to be relaxed and really enjoying himself. The whole band seemed to be having a great time. It's one of the best performances I've seen by Bryan/Roxy. I hope they do a proper UK tour soon (that's a my 'soon', not a Bryan/Roxy 5 years time 'soon'. lol) Tracy C xx ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2006 23:17:29 +0100 From: Richard Evans Subject: Re: [AVALON] New Record Deal Well we all now know Jocelyn likes a slowie!!!!!
