My. God. Too Yes Jon, the Burberry shoot is indeed curious. Paedo-chic. I have to think that this is a reference to his character in that recent movie. He will have signed off this photo. I'm sure. That's what makes me think there's some anti-cool agenda going on. One is so used to him looking like an art-college James Bond that we can't help but be shocked by this pale, vaguely seedy look. The oddest thought is that he doesn't appear comfortable in a dinner suit .. whereas we all know he's one of the last men alive who can carry off evening dress. His choice of M&S, like his current band's set list, smacks of a former artist cashng in. (Although Brett Anderson and Pete Doherty are the only heirs to his look. Will Selfs to his Martin Amis.) However, and on a happier note, I for one am thrilled that his utterly brilliant 90s work may get formally published in the Roxy format. As a snappy snaps photo that would be acceptable. As a professionally taken shot by one of the worlds most renowned photographers, of (as Jocelyn rightly says) a man so meticulous that he famously has a full length mirror placed opposite him when he is photographed it is nothing short of dreadful. The pose, angle and styling is all unbelievably poor. If that was the best shot, what horrors lie on the contact sheet? Here's hoping Bailey can show Testino how it's done.... The venue WAS completely soulless and corporate as I had expected, but somehow the evening was almost perfect. The sound was much better than I'd feared and the rain held off. Leo's solos in Out Of The Blue and Tara, as well as sonic soundscapes in Ladytron were unbelievably excellent. I did not expect someone new to fit in with the sound and the band so well. I am so pleased he was selected to fill out the sound. But I remain unconvinced that Roxy need four guitar players and three keyboard players as well as drums, percussion and Andy Mackay on reeds. It's starting to get a bit muddled in the middle and you lose count of who you're looking at ;-) My whole family attended the show. My daughters are convinced that Bryan and Phil were waving and smiling to them and them alone (even though we were in front row seats to the side of the stage some way away) and this pleases them immensely. It was a wonderful evening. Can't believe Roxy are calling a halt to the tour on number 13, but there you go. I hope Bryan decides to bring out a new Roxy album and that there's a tour to promote it. If the last ever Roxy track played live proved to be Let's Stick Together, how weird would that be???
