Any new arrangememts? Even I am starting to get a little ...err.... disappointed .. at the world of Roxy Music. Such a similar set to the first reunion gig 5 years ago. This is a travesty of the Roxy brand. At least Bryan solo inserts new songs and new arrngements each tour.... Anyone else feeling conned? Cork was so much better, the band where as tight as I have heard them. Leo Brahams played the Eddie Jobson violin solo on his guitar note for note he seems to fit in well with Roxy and as was pointed out a real find. Ollie Thompson is only 18 but put in a fine performance too and another great find. J.O'B. ________________________________________________________________________ Check out AOL.com today. Dublin: great gig very, very hot inside the hall, familiar tunes, familiar faces on the front row and a few unfamiliar faces on a very small stage. Slightly under rehearsed performance but good to hear a slightly different sound with the new guitar players. Leo feeding his guitar into a laptop to produce some amazing sounds. Andy Newmark did incredibly well, virtually sight reading every song, he should not be Knocked - -without him there would have been no tour. Cork: Again a great gig but different from the night before, being a much larger show inside a 'big top' type tent, with a lot more room on stage, which allowed BF to play to the audience more, huge cheer for Avalon, and LST went down very well at the end. Spoke to a few band members in Cork but nobody would talk about the album.eg: Me: "Any news on the new album Bryan", BF: "Er no not really" ,Me: "is a release next year likely?" BF: "Er not really sure........" Andy Newmark explained that he had had very little time to prepare for the tour and on stage was working from a songbook with a few scribbled notes and a metronome that he was programming for each song, in the circumstances a great performance, he was genuinely very concerned for Paul and had clearly stepped in to help out in a moment of crisis only. Guy Pratt was in good form in the hotel bar after the show, telling us for example that for the Gimour tour there was over 2 weeks of 'intense' rehearsals, for the Roxy tour there was the usual 2 days not so intense rehearsals even with 2 new guitar players. TGPT illness had happened very suddenly, he respected Pauls privacy but said that he should make a full recovery. We were never in a million years going to get new material on this tour. These shows were about enjoying Roxy live and meeting up with and enjoying the company again of some very nice people! Regards,Duncan. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V11 #157 ***************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
