I recall she drunkenly flashed what she referred to as her 'kebab' at the cameras one evening, and later pleasured herself with a bottle, for a dare a 'first' for terrestrial TV! Since leaving the Big Brother house she's become the darling of the trashier entertainment mags; a chav queen, in fact. But she's also handled herself surprisingly well and has stayed in the public eye a lot longer than some of the actual winners of BB (she came fourth). She's obviously getting good representation, but that's not all. She must be considerably more shrewd than she seems, business-wise and in terms of the way she manages her image. Image-making aside, she comes over as rather a sweet girl in interviews. She knows she's only popular for her trashiness but appears not to harbor any bitterness or resentment about it. Which is a miracle really, since the tabloids were vicious about her to begin with, publishing front page pictures of her with a pig's snout photoshopped onto her face. All the weight of the national tabloids' scorn directed at a teenage girl with a bit of a weight problem... Then, in their typically despicable, two-faced way, when the newspaper editors realized that in fact Jade was becoming popular with the general public despite their hate campaign, they instantly turned tale and started sucking up to her without a shred of guilt or shame. Compared to the hypocrisy and immorality of the press, I reckon sticking a bottle up your snatch on the telly is a minor transgression at best... Actually that was Kinga in a later series of BB. Now thats settled, I apologise again for inflicting Ms. Goody on the rest of the world and suggest we move onto more on-topic and Ferry related chat. I was reading a very well written article in Word Magazine (easily the best entertainment magazine on the market at the moment) where Jarvis Cocker was held up as the greatest frontman of all time. The reason given was that he 'even looked like the music he was singing.' Which works really well as a description. Listening again to 'This is Hardcore' it struck me that this is the album that Roxy should be making. The party's over, future wasn't so great, the drugs didn't work and the girl I took home wasn't as much fun as I thought she'd be. The sunset after the sundown of Avalon. This is not to say that it should be an album of doom and gloom. The Pulp album is very up in places with only Cocker's self deprecating lyrics reminding us that things are buggered. And I'd love Ferry to cover the title track of the Pulp lp.
