I didn't realise that someone had done that. Yes, the menu would probably not have been converted - - although there is no technical reason why whoever did the conversion couldn't have done the menu too - it would just be added difficulty. No wonder some of our US cousins are saying the picture quality is really bad - apart from having started life as multi-generation VHS and then being further compressed by MPEG2 to fit a single PAL DVD, it has now been standards converted too! All of which individual stages cause artefacts and degredation of the picture but when concatenated (=joined up) result in an almost unwatchable picture (I would have thought). YMMV as they say stateside. Certainly more enjoyable than anything Roxy or Bryan have put out since the Siren (except Avalon and maybe the Bride Stripped Bare.) ANOTHER DAY ON EARTH is a drizzle of politely tedious middle-class fubsy that strays so far over the border between gentle and twee that if I actually knew the man I would have scratched his name out of my address book after three tracks. I for one was unable to face another day on earth with it it lasted exactly twenty seconds between my CD player and the bin. Eno has been coasting on a cushion of goodwill based on his 'early funny ones' and his 'mid-period floaty ones' for far too long. Just exactly what is meant to be so super-cred' about producing U2? And James?! It's not as if he transformed them into something far-out and magical. Hiring Eno as producer seems more of a publicity coup than a genuine step into the avant-garde. Nigel Godrich's production work for Radiohead pisses all over Eno's efforts. He sneered at the Roxy reunion before it happened and then recanted. Now he's playing prima donna about making the album. Personally, I would rejoice if they gave the fifth slot to Eddie Jobson and left this over-the-hill 'avant-gardist' well alone. His albums over the last few years are the aural equivalent of scatter-cushions: kind of 'nice' but who really needs 'em? and he drinks his own wee! Cheers! However one particular "Michael ... of Wellingborough" made 2 "oversights": 1.) He sent me a blank CD-R. (Obviously it should be a DVD blank.) 2.) He did not give an e-mail address (as I asked) so I cannot contact him directly to inform him. Hopefully he reads this, and makes contact with me.
