Basically he adds 'texture' as the focus is very much on DG and the song where PM does let rip they didn't play (live they are doing 2 one hour segments). The audience loved it whilst I was struck by the long overdue revelation that the Pink Floyd were a cosmic blues band. Several songs off the new album, two off 'The Division Bell' (which wouldn't inspire me to buy the album) plus 'Shine on you crazy diamond' and 'Comfortably numb' which is how I felt at the end. I'm not the right person to ask about this as I 'lost' the Floyd when Syd Barrett left and only saw them once afterwards at Earls Court on the big inflatables tour (which I am sure was not the correct name but for the life of me can't remember what the right title is) and I only went then cos Nick Mason gave me some tickets (name drop alert! name drop alert!). I had an uncomfortable flash back to nights at the Round House before ladies realised that rock music was interesting. I reckon a large chunk of the largely male audience still has their tie dyed tee-shirts, greatcoats and loon pants tucked away in a wardrobe somewhere. Nicely done, but not my cup of tea. BM PS And if the PF were regarded as 'progressive' what the hell was Quiet Sun doing???? ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2006 13:11:52 -0000 From: "Cassidy, Chris J (RES)" Subject: RE: [AVALON] David Gilmour at The Mermaid Theatre .....sounds good....low profile from Manzo http://www.thefinalword.co.uk/content/view/464/35/ Regards Chris > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-avalon@smoe.org [SMTP:owner-avalon@smoe.org] On Behalf Of > Chandla911@aol.com > Sent: 10 March 2006 11:28 > To: avalon-digest@smoe.org > Subject: [AVALON] David Gilmour at The Mermaid Theatre > > C'mon!
