The duo attempted many exciting recording techniques to get interesting aural qualities: many sounds and melodies were recorded in buildings, churches and Roger's living room in the English countryside of Suffolk, before Will took them back to New York to tweak, manipulate and expand into full tracks. Roger plays harmonium, piano, organ and accordion and Will provides signature rhythms and tones. Whereas "Fragile (Music)" involved the digital removal of notes to produce a sparse and minimalist recording, this project involved the opposite approach of "joining the dots" and building up a layered soundscape with "transparent complexities". And Roger and Will have taken the sound field idea quite literally by capturing incidental sounds of church bells, clicking clocks and passing cars as they recorded in some of Britain's most beautiful pastoral landscapes. Roger then added simple yet compelling melodies played on harmonium, organ, piano, and accordion. The track bAdaptationb features the sound of church bells transformed into melody and mixed with succinct, reverberated piano hits. On other tracks, such as bA Few Streets Awayb and in bWith Insightb, chords were treated to create hypnotic drones, while on bEvery So Oftenb Roger's piano melodies have been left to stand alone; at times, letting the sounds of cars and local ambience rest quietly in the background. Release by Hydrogen Dukebox, who say, "This is without doubt the strongest album we have released for years and is a beautiful, listenable cinematic experience".
