As you wrote, "clearly there are people about who believe that the members of RM no longer need to earn a living. BF does his corporate gigs, etc., and Phil does whatever is necessary to pay the bills.", I am reminded of Mr. Ferry's advertisement at the talent agency: I found that depressing, as did Andrew Shearer, because it is regarded as a sign of 'depleted revenue on the horizon'. Once again, I wonder if something is amiss with the 'managerial direction', or perhaps there is a reality that I personally don't want to admit - perhaps Ferry/Roxy currency is very low due to a lack of demand. Red eyed and very saddened. Red eyed and very saddened. KBP To judge by the 2001 tour, I think Roxy currency is still potentially high. I have a feeling that left to Phil, who seems admirably businesslike, a new Roxy album would have been first on the 'to do' list after the initial tour. This would have capitalised on the goodwill and momentum generated by a world tour. Instead, pressing on with solo stuff has had the effect of making both Ferry and Roxy vanish as far as the general public are concerned for five years; all that capital has been, if not completely wasted, then heavily depleted. So they have to start all over again. Again. Better late than never, though. In commercial terms, I think that a completed and released new Roxy album with all the hoo-ha it would generate press-wise, would garner far more filthy lucre (and I wish them all tons of the stuff) than a solo album (not that there's any sign of that in any case) and, far more importantly, is probably the last hope for Ferry to recapture his deserved place in the Pantheon. Management, I think, has little to do with this - it's to do with personal focus. Bug-eyed with resignation but hoping to live long enough . . . KBP Why? Nobody has died. The fact that Ferry can charge #25k for a personal appearance and what do we reckon? 10 or so songs is excellent. People still want to hear and see him and are happy to pay very good money to do so. Roxy were never a global brand on the scale of the Rolling Stones, The Beatles or even REM and therefore it's members need to keep things ticking over financially. The Roxy album WILL happen but it will take time to get it right. Good. Let them take their time. There is arguably as much riding on this as there was on the original Roxy Music album, so we will all have to be patient. I can wait. Bright eyed and bushy tailed.
