Lee [Joel Hurd ] [AVALON] Manzanera and Pratt on tour with Gilmour ["Kari Solberg" Subject: [AVALON] Virginia Plain & Robert E. Lee Bryan's lyrics are quite clever, and often contain double meanings to certain words/phrases. It's not often that a phrase in a song/poem will have a TRIPLE-meaning to it, but such is the case with "Virginia Plain" - the cigarettes, the woman, the place. Smart. While re-reading the lyrics to Virginia Plain, it got me wondering about "Robert E. Lee". As it so happens, there are two "R.E.L."s that tie into some kind of VIRGINIA connection: A music lawyer (this one is more obvious): - -------------- http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/parents/careersguide/legal.shtml A Virginian confederate general (this one less so): - ------------------------------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_E._Lee . . Was this yet another deliberate double-meaning tie-in to something 'Virginia'-related, or was it merely a lucky coincidence, in your opinion? I'm thinking that it's just a fortunate coincidence, but wouldn't mind being proven wrong on that. :) - ---joel Tired of spam? Yahoo!
