Aside from salacioulsy suggesting that BF is more productive and proactive when his private life is in turmoil, and current thinking is that he's loved up and happy, I have little to add. (Fragrant Avalon friends have suggested that this state of bliss might slow matters.....) Hello everyone. Please let me say hello, and briefly introduce myself. I'm a long-time Roxy fan (first saw them on the 1975 Siren UK tour, but had been into them right from Virginia Plain, when I was still a little too young to attend rock concerts). I lost my way a bit during the latter years, but have always hung in there, and recently had my interest rekindled since the generally excellent "Frantic", and the various Roxy DVD/tour/retro compilations etc that have been happening recently. I've subscribed to this list for around 18 months now, though I've never actually posted anything before. Enjoying it immensely though - it's a nice, civilised, intelligent community (just as it should be!), so my congrats and belated New Year greetings to everyone here. I have a proposal: can we try and collect all the known facts about the forthcoming Roxy Music album into one, reliable bundle? It has the possibility to be an amazing release I think, although obviously it also has the usual "band re-unites" potential of falling flat on it's face and tarnishing an otherwise fantastic body of work! Whatever, though, I think we all would at least agree that it's highly anticipated indeed. Although there seems to be a good bit of info around - mostly courstesy of Phil - there's also some vagueness and possible red herrings. As I understand it, here's what's happening, along with a couple of questions: 1. Projected release date this year (2006). 2. Ferry/Mackay/Manzanera/Thompson all involved. 3. Eno invited to take part in studio work, though he won't tour. He has also contributed some original material. 4. Rhett Davies (co-)producing? 5. There was a report of a session bassist (sorry, can't remember his name right now - anyone?) on at least some tracks... 6. ...although BF apparently plays bass on one track as it stands at the moment! 7. Nine tracks recorded in sessions last year. Work recommencing in January, band wanting to have around twice that number of tracks to choose from. 8. Of those nine tracks, seven are reportedly "new". Are the others cover versions, or reworkings of older Roxy stuff? Does anyone have any more info, or are they able to expand/clarify/ deny any of this? BTW, watching the final episode in my Father Ted Boxset (Chrissy present) last night, I was delighted to see "Father Brian Eno"! Amazing! :-) Regards, Mark Stagg ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jan 2006 09:50:47 -0500 From: "Caledonia Controls Inc."
