["KB Porter" Subject: RE: [AVALON] Sirius-ly dirty car... and A Perfumed Sigh Helen, I empathize with you about the dirty and salty winter driving conditions; I lived in Calgary, five years, where snow falls in September and no one dares to plant their gardens until after May first. But I loved it! On topic: Did the American tree of 'A Perfumed Sigh' wither as a sprout? Inquiring minds want to know! Skidding on ... erm, off, black ice. I wish he had done more films. I think the Ferry of today would have been less dismissive of the James Bond role he was supposedly approached for around the Limbo Tour time. He was absolutely perfect for it - had the sleaze as well as the class and cool. And Stallone of course bombed him out of Cliffhanger which seemed a shame - guy from Londons burning got his part I think - which was as the main villain. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-avalon@smoe.org [mailto:owner-avalon@smoe.org] On Behalf Of KB Porter Sent: 19 January 2006 13:11 To: Avalon@smoe.org Subject: RE: [AVALON] Ferry plays a "vicious queen". The approach for the Bond role was, I think, early 80s, via Cubby Brocoli's daughter. In truth it was nothing more than a screen test, which BF barely took seriously. Much as I adore the man's life and work I can't bring myself to champion his acting. Those lucky enough to witness his performance in the French soap on A Perfumed Sigh might concur. However, reviews of Pluto are all favourable, and I look forwrad to being proved wrong in my assesment of his thespian ability.
