Helen, if your antenna is like the small dorsal fin type (OEM) as my auto's XM antenna is, then it is perfectly safe to use automated car washes. I do not know about after-market installations. Try your sat.lite EM's website, they'd know. Best wishes. Good that people don't fall immediately into the Franz Ferdinand or Kaiser Chiefs hype mode. However influenced by Roxy the former claim to be - I just can't hear it. Also worth a listen, if you have the time or an iTunes account: the Secret Machines, Editors (although not totally untainted by hype), Brakes, Muddyhead, Bic Runga, Seth Lakeman, Marshmallow, Lola Perrin, Books, the various incarnations of Ed Harcourt. And the 2006 hypesters Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Broken Social Scene seem to have some substance to them also. Guess even talented artists need some hype these days. Was it ever any different? Our XM is an inside antenna... Hmmmmm..... I wouldn't risk it, if I were you. I'd take it off. Clean the car. Then learn not to drive through dirty snow anymore.
