Forget Yes : The really cool old-timers back then were listening to Roxy Music, Eno and Can. If they were cooler than God, they avoided both Yes and punk, and gravitated directly to This Heat." Has anybody heard Fonzi Thornton's album Pumpin'? I've been trying to get hold of a copy but it appears to have been deleted. Whenever I attempt to search for it on emule or any of the download sites the search engines direct me towards naughty films! Any ideas? n/p Tawatha Agee 'Thigh Ride' ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Oct 2005 23:58:38 +0100 From: "Guy Lawley" Subject: [AVALON] Both Ends Burning My copy came from Amazon a few days ago and I've been dipping into it when time permits; thoroughly enjoyable. Jonathon Rigby is clearly a fan. Does everyone know he is also the actor who played Kenneth Horne in the West End stage show of Around The Horne? It was because the show was so successful that the book was delayed, or largely so. He takes a song-by-song approach to every album by Roxy, with history interspersed. Less thorough but pretty solid summaries of just about everything else any of the Roxy crew have ever done. I like his personal reflection on the songs. They make me want to put the song on the stereo right now. Which is the way it should be. Sometimes it's to see if I disagree with him or not, usually I'm nodding in agreement. He can't quote many lyrics, it seems, so he's forced to discuss more around the lyrics which becomes creative and fun.
