In yesterday's, the last of the series, he covers girl groups, jazz, rock opera and there is a chapter, just after half way through, that introduces the blagger's guide to Brian Eno. Included are a couple of instances from Roxy Music (although you most likely wouldn't be able to guess which ones), famous primary collaborations/guest appearances and his own superb output. Very funny. Briefly. You can still hear this until end of next Friday by visiting _www.bbc.co.uk/radio2_ (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2) and clicking on Listen Again and once more on Blagger's Guide. Best wishes Richard Mills n/p the self same show again ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Sep 2005 14:09:03 EDT From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] if you wanted to hire Ferry for a private gig it'd cost you.... ...#80,000 according the todays Mail on Sunday. So far, I have one Brit (Andrew Wilson), one Yank (Pete Seely) and one Euro (the Bogus Man) and that's been all. So if one more Brit and/or one person not living in USA, UK or Europe would like to get a free set of Heineken Roxy Music live 2005 CDs, please contact me OFFLIST. If by end of Monday Sept 26 (ie midnight), no-one has claimed these, I will send out to anyone else who asks but duplicates an already full category. Please also let me know if you will offer copies on Avalon when you get yours. Or I shall just go back to lurking... As if Best wishes Richard Mills n/p Perfect - John Cale (this new single from Black Acetate is getting heavy rotation (as they say) on Radio 2. It is a song I can imagine Ferry covering and doing well, but totally differently, yet it is not a song that I can imagine that BF (for whom many happy returns on the eve of his 60th birthday) would ever come up with on his own - anymore. Sigh... ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Sep 2005 23:29:21 -0400 From: "seely31" Subject: [AVALON] Robert Wyatt interview Many kudos to Phil Manzanera for the great job he did with the Robert Wyatt interview. It was very revealing, and I believe that because he is a musician and because he knows Wyatt, he was able to have an empathy and connection with him that wouldn't have come out with a standard journalist interview. I highly recommend going to the BBC site and giving it a listen. And a s a bonus for American listeners, there's a snippet of the news just before the interview that talks about a war protest featuring Brian Eno. You just can't get that kind of news here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/documentaries/ Pete S. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V10 #235 ***************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
