Well, there's the 'Lucy Wilkins is a neighbour' one, though more ridiculously complicated is the one about the Beatles/Macca fan who was chatting to me in the shop the other day, and he just doesn't 'get' Roxy/Ferry (the poor sod), and doesn't really see how liking one, and you can really like the other. I pointed out 'Jealous Guy' and moreso 'You Won't See Me' as obvious connections, then proceeded to startle him with the fact that on the original free poster contained with the 'Band On The Run' Album in 1973, pictured amongst friends, family and musicians, is none other than our Mr F. This was very good, as it was a fact the Beatlesman didn't know. Side 2 Track 1 is also called 'Mamunia' (hey, it's close), and the Album itself finished with the track 'Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five', which is eleven years before Mr F. himself graced me with his presence in this very record shop, chatted, and it was then I got the prize info of the 'who says 'Don't Ask Why' on the end of FYP answer that had been bugging me for far too long (Judi Dench). As an aside, Band On the Run was largely worked on by Tony Visconti, producer of T.Rex of course, personal friend of Marc Bolan, whose son Rolan's girlfriend shops for her music right here, as she lives round the corner. I missed a phone call from Robert Fripp, thus not getting an interview in 1980 or so, nor getting a promised Brian Eno interview that I went to London for a few years later. - -- Daniel ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Sep 2005 11:45:10 -0700 From: helchat@earthlink.net Subject: Re: [AVALON] Six degrees or less of seperation Does Mr. JO'B have this in his collection too, with a possible pic for viewing at the website?? I have a funny one. My good friend's ex-fiance's parents (could you follow that?) are very "best friends" of Bryan. In fact, they hosted his birthday party in London last year! So ... when my friend's (the ex-fiance's) parents visited him last November, his mother (having heard that I was a big fan of Bryan's) HAND delivered a present to ME from none other than Mr. Ferry. (And it was a birthday present to boot.) It's the double CD "Roxy Music Live" signed to me "lots of love Diane x Bryan". very cool. So it went from Bryan to my friend's mother, to my friend to me. I think that's 3 degrees. Thanks for reminding me!! It's all his fault I'm a fan... first two albums I ever owned were Roxy's first one, and Ziggy Stardust. They were given to me at the same time. There's a whole new thread... first albums owned? ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Sep 2005 21:54:16 -0700 (GMT-07:00) From: helchat@earthlink.net Subject: [AVALON] OFFTOPIC: David Bowie In watching snippets of the Gulf Coast concert tonight, my boyfriend noticed David Bowie had a black eye. I was walking in the room when he said it and said "no, he was stuck in the eye..." he interrupted me and said "no, it's a black eye!" I then noticed that the Thin White Duke was wearing an ace bandage on his left hand. I saw no news on this after a search on google........ Is anyone aware of this?
