I for example, live in Titletown (Green Bay-for the non-football lovers). Consequently, I have first generation tapes of when Bryan was on Sat. Night Live and some other nightly shows. My current Sony computer can capture analog video and create excellent mpg files. So, assuming other Avalonians have similiar computers and have tapes from their country's shows, we could all get together to create mpg's. Eveyone lost yet? If not, here it goes. Once you have mpg files anyone with a DVD burner and software that came with it can create there own DVD's from the mpg files. If someone has a better idea let us know. I'm not on a high speed connection so I couldn't for see us going the bit torrent route. Thoughts? Oh, and the bootleggers. If, the RIAA hasn't been able to stop them for 50 years then us not doing this project will have no impact on the bootlegers/EBAYer's either way. It contains a lot or rare footage including concert recordings, interviews and, (I can still barely believe it,) Bryan's performance in a French Soap Opera. It runs to nearly 3 hours. Some of the quality is grainy but its fairly comprehensive and chock full of nugets. I mailed out to around 70 Avalonions around the world. Last time I looked there was a reference to it on Chris Turner's site Roxyrama. I've often thought about converting this to DVD format. Like many folks my VHS player has broken and I haven't got around to mending it because we only watch DVDs these days. I'm pretty relaxed about "content sharing" issues. If some twit wants to make a few pennies on eBay well that's no more than a nuisance and a mild embaressment to this excellent community. In reality, of course, Avalonions buy just about anything that Ferry or Roxy put out, so the management team can hardly concern themselves about any inappropriate commercial ambitions in such a project emanating from this loyal group of fans. For me the problems are, as ever, time and cost. Last time I collected a few bucks a video but I recall my bank charges for cashing cheques from obscure mid-west banks (for instance) outweighed any recompense I might have received for the burning, packaging and mailing of these videos. That's life, I know. So I suppose I'm saying that I'll ship my one remaining copy of APS to anyone prepared to convert to DVD and start a tree (if that's the right expression.) Unless someone out there with the vid and the necessary equiptment has already converted, which would save time..
