Ferry has made up for that by releasing all his material several times over ;-) J.O'B. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Jul 2005 13:06:05 -0500 From: "Rod LeCloux" Subject: [AVALON] DVD-In / VHS/Pal-Out It's been quite sometime since the Avalon group engaged in a video release. I believe if memory is correct 2 such tapes (VHS/PAL) were created a couple years back of Roxy and Ferry performances, promo video's and soap opera performances? I have 1 of them. Since then most of us have moved to digital. Therefore, is it possible to have the masters of these 2 tapes converted to digital and then re-tree'd? Also, if we didn't re-transfer the above 2 maybe we could as a group do some other type of digital project to trade. Maybe the first step would be to decide what the content would be. We could do 1 hour DVD's by decade, and try to keep the quality high. Maybe we would even stop short of creating DVD's (NTSC vs PAL, Region issues) and just create high quality mpg files to trade. Any computer can view mpg and maybe some DVD players. Thoughts or interests? I have 1 of them One of the problems with those tapes is that they were compiled with a lot of work and effort from tape collections given in good faith for the project. This was all done with a lot of time and effort and in a non profiteering way. Unfortunately someone is now flogging these on EBAY complete with the exact same artwork etc (well they disguise the sale by giving them away free with a penny chew or something for 20 UKP) not quite the spirit really. I keep watching the prices start to come down on them but I still don't want to get one yet. I have some friends that own one so hoping they will do me a big favor, Maybe!!! Otherwise I just keep checking the ads every week to see if theres a sale.
