Seeing him made me too think about his past playing with Ferry. I didn't know the "Can't afford me" story! :O) Too bad! I hope Goodie's hubby gets to see the Floyd performance. A word about the BBC. No ads. I suspect our global community gets quite excited, not to say envious, when they read those two words. And Jonathon Ross was quite fun. And I think we'd got the message. And I think we don't need those "bed-wetters" from Coldplay and Travis to lecture us, do we?? Really? And lest we are rude about David Gilmour lets not forget that he gave heroic guitar support to Bryan 20 years ago at Wembley - what a band that day, Hubbard, Kamen and Gilmour. And Bryan never looked better, in my humble opinion. During Kamen's solo on Slave the cameraman zoomed in on Gilmour's axe, the Floyd genius had the charm to point the errant snapper to Chester's gyrations cross-stage. Class. A TV pal of mine asked DG around that time if he was likely to be doing more work with the Cool Ruler. "I'm afraid," Gilmour replied with a raised eyebrow, "Bryan, much as I love him, can't afford me!" They showed ALL FOUR SONGS!!! Hello-oo! What did you all think the red button in the top right hand corner was for? Click on that and you could choose what concert you wished to watch and you could choose Berlin and see the whole set. Roxy arriving, then playing and then leaving the stage. As has been commented, the cameraman seems to have a thing for blondes and I did wonder if Phil had missed the coach. Then finally a shot that showed him there, also. Like Floyd and all the other grizzled dinosaurs reunited this year, they played 30-year old songs. Just that Ferry doesn't look anywhere near as grizzled as Dave Gilmour who is remarkably younger... Best wishes Richard Mills n/p Ben Folds - Songs For Silberman PS Many thanks to Stevie Wonder who dedicated his set to Luther Vandross and Obie Benson of the Four Tops, both of whom had passed away last Friday. RIP PPS However, SHAME on the BBC for censoring the public information videos introduced by Travis and Coldplay. Both lead vocalists warned people that the Beeb might cut to Jonathan Ross for more filler bollocks rather than deal with the issues, but the Beeb appeared not to care and cut away anyhow. BBC made so much capital for the corporation out of this Africa Summit, but it appears they don't wish to annoy their masters by giving viewers the stats and figures for fear of being criticised by the other lobby that would see it as rabble rousing against the world's Govts. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Jul 2005 20:56:26 +0200 From: "Charles Mandar" Subject: [AVALON] Roxy in Berlin / Streaming Video Last posts about Roxy and Live 8 were a little confusing about what was broadcasted in our different countries. In France I don't know but I guess it was nothing at all. So I have downloaded the whole concert in Berlin from AOL and made an abstract of the 20' Roxy show. It is a wmv file, you can watch with any videoplayer software. Same quality as on AOL : 320 x 240, 44 kHz audio. If someone want to trade... Is there any 2005 boots available ? Similar set, P Rose was missing, RM/RM included near the end of the first set, and I heard P'rama for the very first time live - good intro. Phil's guitar was striking a few bars before the solo of Ladytron, meant RM jamming for a moment.. just got a replacement guitar in time.. Every Dreamhome brilliant and errie.. Man of the match was Andy....looks better now he has lost some weight... but the surprise was really how the fans reacted. Resounding applause, despite most of the songs coming from the first albums.. Normally the germans like the safe stuff. JG etc ok that song was played.... but this was one of the best german crowds I've experienced at a RM or BF concert. Short set only 85 minutes.....but full of quality playing and a quality performance.. managed some photos (but nothing new to add to the great vivaroxymusic.com page). Afterwards, "players" were confirming work on new album to be released spring 2006 followed by world tour. BF, AM, PM & GPT all wisked awar in separate Mercs, but PM and BF did take time to sign many a autopgraph.. my mate gave Bryan a bottle of wine. He thought he was supposed to sign it! Julia (what an angel).. spent about 10 minutes talking to the last fans..even John Good had a smile and a few secs for us... great night, I thoroughly enjoyed it... by the way.. I've often experienced the german crowds (eg Westerhagen concert, REM, cranberries) to spend most of the time talking, drinking or getting new rounds, or walking around duri ng a concert... this time nobody moved. The RM performance was THAT good, despite a modest set, a short break to at least have an encore.. And Bryan, how can anyone look that good! voice was top, his dancing... well, very Ferry! well back to DVD for now.. Stephen - --------------------------------- Gesendet von Yahoo!
