Somehow it's a relief to read that some of the numbers sounded underrehearsed. I mean, there are enough songs which are even far beyond overrehearsed. Would love to hear a return to that rugged 70s live sounds which sometimes sounding like on the verge of falling apart but never did. That's risky music! Some more questions if anybody cares to answer: Does Ferry's voice sound more 70s-style now regarding the power or lmor like "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue"? Did the Bry play keyboards on some of the newly-added numbers? It was at a better pace than the 2001 sprint And, naturally, during Remake/Remodel. But not on any of the 4 added numbers. The voice didn't sound as nasal as on Frantic and (IAON)BB, but neither did it have that sharp, glass-cracking edge of the old days. But he sounded better vocally than he has done in ages- certainly more powerful. I wonder if it's just the rest, or the fact that he's been limbering up in the studio, or even that he may have had a proper seeing to by a specialist after the last touring debacle. I felt the atmosphere lacking Roxy at Liverpool and at the Apollo had such a great atmosphere I can't blame the band or Ferry's effort they seemed to be giving their all but maybe new material or "especially at this gig" different existing material could have given that something extra to take away. I remember what a joy it was on the TGB tour to hear Sunset and Casanova Here's hoping Next time is the best we all know But if there is no next time where to go? Rather than go to as many gigs as possible I would attempt to avoid them. My first effort at missing Wembley in '01 went very well when transport problems helped out enormously. Unfortunately, and Mr. Watkins and a few others have a lot to answer for, I managed to catch both the last MENA gig and the Apollo on the following Tuesday. A few years later a much better excuse came up when Hyde Park was cancelled due to promoter problems - even though the ticket had been received well in advance. But, I believe that I managed to avoid the Koko gig with the best excuse yet - Angioplasty resulting in two stents inserted in the old "ticker". So, I defy anyone to come up with a better excuse for missing a gig!!! Having said that, if anyone did get a recording......... Wonderful to read Reecey's review - just sorry that I missed Pyjamarama after all these years! ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Jun 2005 20:24:17 +0200 From: "Christian H. And it'll be great to hear a less fairground-like Dream Home... I am hoping the set list will develop for those of you going to the European ( mainland) gigs. Wednesday was great .... ok, so the 2001 tour set list barely tampered with but a great set, a song from every album and all done very well , and certainly the rawest and most energetic Roxy Music I have seen since I first saw them in 1979. ( oh, dear , I had a Rolling Stones moment just now....) I thought the venue added to the experience .. all standing, a good view from the balcony. Interesting point some one made about Viva!RoxyMusic and another about what was dropped from the set. ( Avalon) I did not expect new material.... that's some way off I am sure and, wait for it, we're not ready for it yet. It would be wrong to do until the album comes out. Cheer up, Richard, keep the faith. Philip ___________________________________________________________ Book yourself something to look forward to in 2005.
