New material had been rehearsed - we made stabs in the dark at which toons might be introduced. Bogus Man, Chance Meeting, Pyjamerama and Beauty Queen were all mentioned, so you can imagine the sadness at an opportunity lost for The Lads to give us our BQ Holy Grail on a silver plated engraved plate. Instead, Jealous Guy wasted a 4 minute slot in a hot sweaty near 2 hour set. I often wonder if Ferry understands his hard core audience at all. This was a chance to experiment in front of an in tune friendly audience who would have taken all the bum notes with pleasure, so long as they were bum notes we hadn't heard live for years. But in the scheme of things, that was about the only gripe. Opening with RM/RM put paid to more guesswork of TTOIA as opener. into Ladytron, still strong through the years. Next, While My Heart Is Still Beating - with the aid of a pace-maker. OOTB, then into the first surprise of the evening, a messy but wonderfully mesmeric Chance Meeting. And if you thought that was a state to be in, Prairie Rose was an absolute shambles, sounding like it had only been rehearsed that very morning. No-one knew where to start and 'Texas' disappeared off the face of the earth. But great to hear BF hollering like a wrangler at a rodeo. Oh Yeah, oh well, My Only Love with Sarah Brown back belting out those big old lungs, BEB with a very spooky pair of Katie Turner lookalikes going through the go-going duties - send in the clones? Then Tara. Colin Good (if indeed it was he who arranged this number) could learn a lot by viewing the Lee at Loch Ness video clip. Please, go back to just Andy and violin and get Speddo to dump the Spanish waiter serenade routine. Then IEDH, thankfully back to its spartan eerie best and not the Chipmunk version of late. ASFE into a chugging Bogus Man, which makes me ask, with David Williams practically redundant all night on 3rd guitar, why weren't some of the funkier numbers like The Main Thing tried out for him to get his funkyself teeth into? The unmentionable JG and then another highlight. A fantastic Pyjamerama with Ferry handling the upper register with aplomb, putting paid to more conjecture that all those High Ones are beyond him in his dotage. And who was magnificent here, never putting a foot wrong all night and sorting out a false start on BEB - the impeccable GPT. Man of the Match yet again. Last four songs into the final furlong, all dance along, sing along, mug along-a-Roxy. VP got the What's her name Zimmer Frame ending and we all missed the Mick Green/Speddo/TGPT pointing competition at the end of DTS. As a warm up it was great fun, leaving a sweaty but happy Ferry and a breathless Mr MacKay who was courteous enough to put up with an after gig chat while acting as his own roadie. Very interesting to see that the curiosity of such an intimate gig for the fans was enough to lure old housewives favourites Martino and Ivor out of the woodwork and so many more of the old gang after such a long while. Great to see everyone and sorry to have missed some more of you. And if any of you are fool hardy enough to want to go back to Koko again for their Friday nights live, either take a torch for the stairs or line up your Accident Lawyers R Us. A couple of new songs! Ferry seemed very happy and at ease with the rest of the band. He smiled at Phil at one stage. Wow! DAVID WILLIAMS! Great to see a brother who knows how to funk on stage! (underused on the night though) He looks so different in Little Britain. Dancing girls cloned from the Lucy original via Katie Turner. I'll have the one on the right please. More dancing girls (not cloned from anyone I know!) giving it some welly on the front row. Louise Peacock looking like a slighty glamorous lady scientist. I'd like to help her with a couple of experiments. BAD Half an hour late on stage. No South Downs to set the scene prior to the band taking to the stage.... Colin Good poofing up a lot of the songs. Doesn't Song For Europe go on for long enough without a 26 minute opening keyboard ramble? Isn't he due back at Hogwarts about now? The new songs are too little too late and at the expense of some of the other favourites (No Streetlife!). They should have been included to pep up the second half of the tour 4 years ago. This should feel like a new tour, not the old tour with a couple of new numbers thrown in! Only Bogus Man and Pyjamarama really worked (Praire Rose was close though) and there was no attempt to extend the latter beyond its brief running time. Lets not forget that we have already had this tour four years ago and seen in released on dvd and live cd. Sure keep a few of the songs but it needs a bit of a re-jig really. No 'This is Roxy Music' from Bryan after the first or second song! No 'Well hello there! It's good to be back in Camden (or even London))!!' From Bryan. Awful lighting! Bryan introduced the band when half of them were in darkness and somebody might easily have been very seriously injured due to the low lighting and slippery metal stairs on arrival. No TGPT on the official mini-poster (#6.50)! And where the 'ecky peck was Beauty Queen?
