Belgium of July 29th Hi all, Yesterday I was blown away by Moby, in the H*in*k*n Music Hall, same venue that Roxy will be playing, July 5th. Wow! Quite a show, 2 hour gig, and you could buy the "official" bootlog 10 minutes after the show. Oh, then you see times are changing. Produced on the spot. Sold out in 15 minutes. 500 copies or so? (Perhaps still available via www.liveherenow.co.uk) I was taken there by a very good and old friend from Maastricht. Today he mails me that on Belgium radio there was the announcement of Roxy playing "Suikerrock"... July 29th. How is it possible that he knows this before vivaroxymusic.com? :-) "Een zoet toetje voor de echte Roxy fan! Tienen (ten oosten van Brussel) is een uurtje rijden van Maastricht. " http://www.suikerrock.be/2005/template.asp?102 Perhaps see you there... I really don't know if I'll be going, but still 'high' from the concert yesterday I'm very much tempted... But first: Roxy in Ouderkerk, I'll try to make up some agenda for gathering there... ;-) Tara, Anton. True! It's the music I'm interested in, not Bryan's and his family's interests. I must admit I have bought Shakin' Stevens CD - even though I really don't like his attitude. In my opinion, he can sing - and that's what's important. I can understand being a little put off by this foxhunting thing - but it's really insignificant in comparison to the music! Sorry, just my 2c worth Tracy P.S. No slagging me off for Shaky!! ;) ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 May 2005 17:05:01 EDT From: Roxypiglet@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] apologies, Collette No apologies needed. Ferry). I'm really looking forward to their next album (having loovvved their previous two). Here's what they say: " Goldfrapp release their brand new single Ooh La La on 8th August 2005. This is followed by their new album, also called Ooh La La, released on 22nd August 2005 Co-written and co-produced by Alison and Will, Ooh La La comes accompanied by an appropriately electrifying glam fantasy video that Alison describes as harking back to Eno era Roxy Music and old Top of the Pops. The "received opinion" of Shakin' Stevens is to dismiss his work because of the "designated tag of uncool", however I, by chance, came across some of his songs (of which I was previously ignorant of), and liked them tremendously. He had (has?) a great voice and some great songs, I agree. And so did John PEEL think so. > Tracy > > P.S. No slagging me off for Shaky!! ;) Why "the shame"? :? Goldfrapp have the same sense of mystery, not always surpressed sexuality, art leanings and experimental style that are very early Roxyish. I'm pleased to see that Alison has acknowleged the link.
