I just saw two of the best performances from legendary Allman Brothers Band I have seen in over thirty years on Friday and Saturday, plus shows from Allman related bands like the Derek Trucks Band, Oteil and the Peacemakers, and Government Mule. The dual guitar lineup of Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes hearkens back to the band's "Fillmore East" and "Eat a Peach" days when Dicky Betts and Duane Allman forged the band's unique sound. Here are some links to the "Spirit of the Suwannee Park" where the "Wanee Festival" took place: Two days of exquisite performances under pine and oak trees dripping with Spanish moss, clear skies and not a drop of rain. (For the real nature buffs, these are the forests where the now-extinct Ivory Billed Woodpecker once flew.) I am a little sunburnt! InstantLiveConcerts.com recorded both ABB shows, so I was able to leave both nights with a CD of the concerts! Both nights, 200 attendees or so lined up to pick up their concert CDs. (CAN YOU IMAGINE DOING THAT AT AN UPCOMING ROXY MUSIC SHOW?) Here are the setlists: Friday: 1) Aint Wasting Time 2) Trouble No More 3) Midnight Rider 4) Woman Across the River 5) Desdemona 6) Statesboro Blues 7) Stand Back 8)Rockin Horse 9) High Cost of Low Living 10) Black Hearted Woman 11) Melissa 12) Same Thing 13) One Way Out Encore: Revival Saturday: 1) Mountain Jam 2) Night They Drove Old Dixie Down 3) Done Somebody Wrong 4) Wasted Words 5) Good Morning Little School 6) You Don't Love me 7) Stormy Monday 8) (New Instrumental) 9) Walk on Gilded Splinters 10) In Memory of Elizabeth Reed 11) Southbound 12) Mountain Jam (close) Encore: Whipping Post. Well folks, that's it from the Deep South. Give me a while... my brain's still working on shoehorning the phrases "two nights, two completely different set lists" and "Roxy Music" into the same sentence. -wfs ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Apr 2005 22:01:28 +0200 From: Daniel Atterbom Subject: Re: [AVALON] [OT] Allman Brothers Band, North Florida Festival; Instant Live CDs At 10.19 -0700 05-04-17, William Sommers wrote: >Give me a while... my brain's still working on shoehorning the phrases "two nights, two completely different set lists" and "Roxy Music" into the same sentence. Spontainious is a word neither I nor Roxy Music can spell. We can live with that. Could you imagne a Roxy concert where they like a solo Jackson Browne took requests? - -- Daniel ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Apr 2005 15:34:48 -0400 From: "Arnold Schulberg" Subject: RE: [AVALON] [OT] Allman Brothers Band, North Florida Festival; Instant Live CDs And Instant cds! I would avoid any list that puts the dreary " OK Computer " as the No. 1 album has to be put togther by sheep. No "For Your Pleasure" , nor "Stranded" ,..... I think David Bowie's highest , and only , listing was No. 32 with Ziggy Stardust. I'll say no more.
