Did the >track ever come out, or has it been relegated to his >unfinished songs from the early and mid 1990s? And as mentioned many times before, Bernard Butler was involved in a recording of this (whether it's the same recording that's surfaced I don't know). He was also involved in the Alphaville sessions at some point. http://www.icebergradio.com/artist/5579/bernard_butler.html And, as mentioned before, Ferry recorded this song for a proposed John Lennon tribute, which was organised by Yoko Ono. It was due to have been released in 1998, but Ono decided to hold it back til 2000, to mark Lennon's 60th birthday. And then it never appeared. David Bowie was also asked to contribute to this collection, for which he reunited with Tony Visconti. From bowiewonderworld.com news archive: >19th September 1998 > >DAVID BOWIE and long-time producer TONY VISCONTI are working together again >after almost twenty years of bad feeling. Bowie and Visconti stopped talking >in the early 80's after a comment Tony made in an interview but the pair >have reunited to record 'MOTHER' for a JOHN LENNON tribute LP And I haven't heard Antony & The Johnsons yet, have read plenty about him. Does it live up to the hype? Does it live up to the hype? Simon Someone at work downloaded him t'other day after seeing him with Lou Reed at the Barbican, and I overheard some of it. I was actually called over to see if I thought he sounded like Ferry. On a cursory listen, it was only the vibrato that I felt linked him, but I'd like to hear more. I liked his lower register enough to investigate properly. Also I think it's the same person I saw as part of a transvestite troupe of singers at The Pyramid Club in NY a few years ago - the vocals seemed awfully similar. Bought the Kaiser Chiefs album the other day too, full of nananas and lalalas and oohoohoohs, harmless little pop ditties all. Haven't heard it on my proper system yet, but there's an air of jaunty Eno songs about some of it, along with Jam and Madness overtones (no Undertones though) and a manic Virginia Plain piano bashing going on. Very interesting times musically, now if only......
