Well, if you're looking for bastard children of bastard children, we here at the Betty Ford Clinic are presently listening to The Bravery who seem uncannily Duran Duran like at times, who were of course openly fans of Messers Eno and Co. Funny you should say that, because here at The Priory, we have been listening to A-Ha (much under-rated but not by me) earlier and felt that Stay On These Roads and many others had a distinctly Roxy flavour to them. What do other readers think etc...? Anyone remember 'Rialto' ? A minor hit here and there a few years back, Roxy-ish in places, but damn good. 'Cousteau' try it on a bit too, but fail miserably. For those inclined to listen to obscure, ie non-English, bands there were two Swedish 80's bands that had a strong Roxy influence called Lustans Lakejer and Ratata, the singers both admiring Bryan Ferry. Can be found on cd's, singing in Swedish. - -- Daniel ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Feb 2005 11:09:09 EST From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Back to reality....The Roxy influence? I think the most Roxyish act is the much forgotten Pulp. Chris Thomas's involvement in the This Is Hardcore lp as well as the superb and very Roxy-like cover art makes it the best thing Pulp ever did as well as the kind of 'party's over' lp Roxy should have had ready when they did the reunion tour. They also captured the odd sense of Northern Glamour that runs through a lot of Ferry's work as well as the brittle humour of Roxy's earlier years..... When it first came out Chris Issac's Heart Shaped World (Wicked Games) was the best Bryan Ferry album of that year.
