If you can add more, please do. - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Comedy shows that reference BRYAN FERRY: - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- * "THE DAY TODAY" (1994) - episode 5: the 'War' episode Extremely funny show featuring Chris Morris. Brief mention of Ferry in the opening sequence. * "KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU" (1994) - episode 4: the 'France' episode Very funny show featuring Steve Coogan and Patrick Marber. Alan Partridge (Coogan) interviews french chef Philippe Lambert (Marber) who cooked once for Ferry. * "THE FAST SHOW" (1997) - unknown episode Very funny show featuring Paul Whitehouse and Simon Day. Carl Hooper (Day) chats with Brian Ferry (Whitehouse). * "COMIC RELIEF" (1999) - biannual charity telethon Brief amusing sketch featuring Steve Coogan, Simon Greenhall, and THE Bryan Ferry. * "BIG TRAIN" (1998) - unknown episode I don't know about this episode, but Bryan Ferry is apparently spoofed in one particular sketch. - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Comedy shows that reference ROXY MUSIC: - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- * "SHOOTING STARS" (2002) - unknown episode Senseless comedy panel quiz featuring Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. Amusing in short measures. A recreation of early Roxy Music by the resident panelists. * "I'M ALAN PARTRIDGE" (1997) - unknown episode outtake Extremely funny show featuring Steve Coogan, Simon Greenhall, and Felicity Montague. A Roxy Music track is referenced in a 'DJ Alan' outtake. From the BBC Digital Versatile Disc. . __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I taped it when it was on just a couple of weeks ago. There's another reference to Father Brian Eno elsewhere in the series. This was written by Linehan and Matthews who also wrote the Big Train skit, which from memory recreated Virginia Plain with Ferry as Chairman Mao. You had to be there. Ferry appeared in an episode of the Kenny Everett show back in the 70s, and performed a lame sketch with KE which I have on an old 'Best Of' tape which was available at the time. I saw Ant and Dec with Cat Deeley performing a spoof of Virginia Plain one Saturday morning when they were presenting the kids show. They didn't seem to have a clue who they were meant to be. Aussie comic Paul Hogan did a recreation of the Let's Stick Together video in the white suit which was shown on C4 here in the UK in about 1983. I think it is available on an out of print tape. I once saw rubber-faced northern 'comic' Phil Cool do a very unfunny sketch about Ferry on TV which suggested his trademark posturing was due to incontinence. I wonder what ever happened to Phi...oh no, hang on, I don't care. Spitting Image featured a couple of sketches using their Ferry grotesque, circa 1985, mainly centred about his apparently overly oily hair. Also file under unfunny. Happy New Year.
