"Anyway, to me Roxy is a very special thing, no matter what Bry might do or sing or play............................." Indeed, Ole. Roxy Music was and is a very special thing, in my mind that will never change. Their musical creations were so various, I never assigned them to a particular genre: Their recordings remain as fresh, eclectic, weird and eccentric, most wondrous and wandering as ever. Roxy Music easily defies definition. One song they are red, another blue, there are greens and pinks, shades of purple, black and white, an entire spectrum of unusual and unique, their clever music is psychedelic - mind altering - whether it be soulful, r&bluesy, poppy, country, r&rolling, and on and on and on.... Rare, a once-in-a-lifetime band, for me their music personally resonates. A band of substance. The thrill of it all! Best wishes. There's a few things I've been wondering about, and those of you who know may tell : - - is J. Wetton voice hear-able anywhere in Roxy discography (Viva ? which track ?!?) ? For in KC he was quite good. Maybe his voice didn't fit with BF's ??? - - soon after leaving Roxy, Eno played with Fripp, sometime on tracks also featuring P.Manzanera. Is there anything *really* featuring those last two ? Or any quote about one on the other (for example I know that Fripp suggested that S.Hackett, Genesis' guitar-player, would perfectly suit to play Krimso early repertoire). BTW what do Avalonians think of Eno ? I've just bought the wonderful Talking-Heads boxset and Eno work there was fabulous (with additions of Fripp, and later Belew, though maybe not under the Eno area). I'm really wondering about this Eno-connection because in his firt album(s) his singing is really Ferry-like, which get me to the point : is there is any clue that Eno vocal ideas influenced Ferry in finding his Roxy-voice-"style" (I think that it was still *uncertain* in the first Roxy album) ? Or is it the contrary ? (or mutual influences ...?) Thanks a lot Xavier ^_^ [IMAGE] Forfait AOL ADSL 5 Miga ` 22.90EUR/mois ! ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Nov 2004 01:14:03 +0100 From: "Kari Solberg" Subject: [AVALON] Original flyer? >Excellent to see on Vivaroxymusic.com the famous Roxy Music flyer (the >first >Roxy artwork, I guess?) showing up after (what) 32 years. John, I have to ask, because I was so puzzled about the colour of the Roxy Music Flyer from 1971 you are presenting at your site! Have never seen it before.. Have always believed that usual brick-coloured one at manzanera.com, 'Bryan sits down and designs a logo for the band' was the original? http://www.manzanera.com/RoxyArchive/bf3.htm So is this beige one his first sketch? Or is the orange colour manipulated? Would very much like to know! I have also been wondering about the shared ad I have for the two King Crimson Red and BF's ATAP LPs! Isn't this also Bryan's drawing? It's his style, and he used to do it all himself.. in the good old days. I have compared one of the palms on the ad with the palm he made for that charity auction last February, and they are very alike in shape. .. and there are two new video clips at Bryan's site today. >Ciao Kari Ciao Jocelyn Ciao kids >long time gone.. Ciao Danny Boy, good to see you are still here! Lots of bacios ;-)!
