Absolutely. I thought that after hearing on the radio a while back  the 
transition between piano/vocal and finished piece on The Only Face.  Regretfully, 
for me it marks out what a colossal waste of time the  last (oh so) few album's 
worth of endless refinement has been (Frantic aside;  that album sounds 
almost thrown together production-wise and was a definite  improvement). All of 
Ferry's self-penned solo work since B&G (or 'Avalon II  without those annoying 
Roxy Musicians') has left me completely cold; maybe  it's because his songs are 
now such fragile things that they can't bear the  weight of overworking.
 
A reminder for this old cynic of why I loved the man's work last night - my  
band played OOTB and AIWIY in rehearsal, which was a tremendous blast 
(literally  - my baritone sax on the latter made my teeth rattle :) - ah, roll  on 
1974!
