Soetemann" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Bass Lines > I noticed some errors in the new Roxy Book, did anyone else come across > any??? One I noticed was that the fuzz bass in Virginia Plain was mistaken for a synth. What I found very interesting was that it covered Ferry's compositional idiosyncrasies, researching why the early Roxy songs somehow sound unfamiliar, chord-wise (for musos: Ferry was leaving out the thirds, for example in Editions of You - and thus leaving open whether it be regarded as major or minor at times). Though an early song like Psalm is rather conventional, harmony-wise, but beautiful. So Ferry must have known how to play a 'proper' chord. > Off topic - Good luck to your team tonight John, against AC Milan. What - no good luck for Werder Bremen against FC Valencia? - We need it!
