A problem is that Mr Ferry, if I remember it correctly, is signed to Virgin Germany and not to the British office, which always make things more complicated. Mr Ferry is not man that delevers album upon album, but is more frequent then his American contemporaries Steeley Dan who did not record that many albums, solo or as a group, between 1980 and 2000. - -- Daniel ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Sep 2004 11:05:49 +0100 From: "roxypiglet" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Our nightingale is past his prime Although I have not been lucky enough to meet Bryan in person , I have always thought him somewhat remote from us regular mortals .A work collegue of mine Stuart Pearson knew him quite well in the early years,Bryan's Girl in tow for a few months was indeed Stuarts Sister. He described him as Bohemien & very self centered. This I know was many years ago & much can change over the decades . It seems though Mr Ferry has not changed all that much His Fans are 90 % hardcore who would like some consideration .If He wishes to keep them ,He needs at the very least to change His set list. My oppinion of Bryan is still one of admiration for His Work with Roxy & early solo albums but I must admit to being vey dissapointed at the way he handled his recent illness . Mr Ferry you maybe the most beautiful specimen of a male I have ever seen but it takes more than that to keep your lounge Lizard status . When people like Jocelyn gets fed up it's time to WAKE UP !! ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Sep 2004 10:36:56 EDT From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Death of a Lounge Lizard Is there anyway of finding out how many people are currently on the list? I ask for the following reasons and wonder if it reflects feelings throughout fandom (hate that word): The overall quiet nature of the list compared with two years ago. The fact that some of the big names seemed to gone: Mr Stockman, Canning etc. The general disillusionment with BF as voiced in the recent hot topic. Powers that be? J Theres probably just three of us. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Sep 2004 13:26:48 +0100 From: "Thomas Wallace" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Our nightingale is past his prime - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daniel Atterbom" To: Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2004 11:04 AM Subject: Re: [AVALON] Our nightingale is past his prime > But Roxy and/or Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera as producers still have > an impact, as for current Roxy-influenced bands, check out Mercury > Prize winners Franz Ferdinand or Scissor Sisters. Over the last six months I've been constantly hearing how influential Roxy were on these acts and yet I fail to hear anything in the music they produce that would justify these claims. They churn you their tunes, do their little dances and get loads of coverage on TV but neither produce anything that really stands out from the rest of the stuff being churned out just now. This is the first year in Avalon's history when the membership has fallen. I attribute this to a handful of self-styled 'real fans' who continually criticise every minute aspect of Ferry's life and career, and who are neither representative of Avalon's membership, or Ferry's broader fanbase.
