KB, it's more your profundity than mine - I only thought of a 'line' as a two-dimensional phenomenon in geometry - isn't it? But it's fitting that the 'Philosophical Bryan Ferry' focusses on the END of the line. When we add 'Both Ends Burning' - from the same album! - we witness the existential danger of the 'in between': no safety to be gained, neither at the start or the end of the line. The Ferryian dialectics of 'beginning of the line' (thesis) - 'end of the line' (antithesis) - Jerry Hall (synthesis). What a clever guy... Hey what are the men in the white coats doing here again? Show's going ahead. John's updated Viva with the more up to the minute news - as he says, don't shoot the messenger! And after it's off, it's on again and a 35 minute show all wrapped up in his Dr Who scarf again in Kilkenny, I wouldn't hold out for a full set. BTW a huge happy birthday to my favourite Roxyite. Mr MacKay a youthful 28 today (well in my head he is). The Liverpool show is definatly on. I got the information last night from a more than reliable source. I trecked off downtown Kusadasi, where I am currently supossed to be on holdiay, to the internet cafe and updated viva. I headed back up and to my hotel and just as I was my tucking into my second kebab and the Turkish dancer was shoogling her tic tacs at me I got a second massage from the same source telling me they decided to go ahead with the show, so it was a mad dash again to update again. I don't know why it was off then on but it seems Mr Ferry has got the wrong idea abour surprising us at gigs. Instead of wondering what song will he do next we just wonder if the gig is on or off. Never knew that Queen & David Bowie did Under Pressure, an empromptu recording session.Supposely it was a huge success throughout Europe giving Queen their second Uk # one single. Released in the US in 1981 , taken from the album Hot Space. I'm amazed at just how good Mercury's voice really was & how much he wrote. Like Ferry they were on the Live Aid show in 85 but I don't recall seeing them. Is anyone familar with all this? Curious mind wants to know!!! Subject: [AVALON] Re: Classics Thanks DM for that bit of info. I remember the Live Aid coming on TV. but here in the US we didn't get everything. I remember seeing Ferry come out in all white & sang 2 songs, never had seen him but knew of him as a friend was raving about this group Roxy & its lead singer. He was getting everything of them he could get his hands on. When Bryan came on I thought, he is the coolest performer where can I see more of him. That is when I started keeping up with him. Yes, its hard to believe that many yrs. have gone by( when you're having a blast) I only wish I could have seen Mercury before he died. As I said he had an amazing voice. I will no doubt be listening to this CD I discovered. What a find, it seems to be all the classic Queen tunes.
