I knew Katie and Bryan were an item once more. It was more that I didn't expect her to feature in the shows once more as a dancer. I thought she'd been told to live life in a swanky voguish way, laying on chaises longues, drinking champers and nibbling caviar, etc and find a way to enjoy it. Wondered if her re-appearance meant anything significant like she'd stamped her stiletto and gotten her way (ie she wants to dance for a living) or that Bryan is strapped just now and he's pulled his northern belt in and told Katie she has to work in the family store once more? Drivel really but, in the absence of responses to my questions about Manzo (what's he got planned for Wembley? Why no place for Bryan on the CD?), I'm going with the flow. This will get it into supermarkets. Soetemann" Subject: Re: [AVALON] The Soul of Bryan Ferry Excellent, Simon. Of course, I'm also pondering on how Bryan could release more albums without having to record any more music. For one thing, I'll recycle my EP concept for 'Roxy Music - The Religious Songs', already posted some years ago: 1. Psalm 2. Triptych (if you want some Bry input as well: 3. Seven Deadly Sins 4. Goddess of Love) Another compilation - you'll 'get' it - could be: 'The Mathematical Genius of Bryan Ferry (with Roxy Music)': 2HB The Numberer In Every Dream Home A Heartache 3&9 End Of The Line Four Letter Love More Than This The Chosen One Seven Deadly Sins Just One Look All Tomorrow's Parties The Only Face The 39 Steps Just One Of Those Things One Way Love Don't Think Twice, It's All Right One Way Love Have I forgotten anything? It would be a good attempt to reach a more intellectual audience again, wouldn't it? Then, to reach yet another audience: 'The Esoteric Bryan Ferry (with Roxy Music)' (including, amongst other tracks I Put A Spell On You, Gemini Moon, Sympathy For The Devil, Mother Of Pearl, Fingerpoppin', You Go To My Head, Sign Of The Times etc.) 'The Bedroom Bryan Ferry (with Roxy Music)' (including Beauty Queen, For Your Pleasure, All I Want Is You, Love Is The Drug, My Little Girl (duet with Barry White, RIP), Loving You Is Sweeter than Ever, Help Me Make It Through The Night (c'mon, can it get more obvious?), One Kiss, If It Takes All Night, Hold On (I'm Coming), Love Me Madly Again and and and) 'The Philosophical Bryan Ferry (with Roxy Music)' (including If There is Something, This is Tomorrow, The Bogus Man, Funny How Time Slips Away, Another Time, Another Place, In Your Mind, This Island Earth, More Than This (again) etc.) Sorry to bore anyone, but there's no need for a new studio album, as I'm sure you'll agree... Might not be too far flung with that thought, Richard. Consider this: Katie leaves BF (reported that he didn't want her to work, presumably as a model) for she thinks her future holds brighter promise. Soon thereafter, dashing the belief that her star was rising, Katie soon realizes her professional appeal and viability had existed very largely due to her association with Bryan Ferry - without him, she is just another pretty number in the vast sea of beauty, her marginal talent is drowned by overwhelming waves from other artistic genius that reside within the oceans. Changing tack, she once more becomes amiable towards BF - better that, than to struggle as she once did 'pre-Ferry'. Meanwhile, Ferry's obsession remains. A fool for love, he also misses the stud factor of old man with attractive young blood in tow. Of course, she makes an offer he can't refuse, all he wants is her. What she wants are the doors he may open for her. But does she love him? And, does he truly love her - or is he using her before confusing her so that he can loose her. Does she even suspect? WHATEVER!!! In my not so very humble opinion, I think it is pure sleaze that his lover should be strutting her stuff for his trade. But there we have it - the oldest of professions, pimps and their prostitutes! Go figure. Ha Ha Ha - I shot the sheriff but I did not shoot the deputy. Furthermore, I've read the Seven Year Plan which calls for the release of "The Very Best Collection of the Very Best of The Collections". Christian, I've always liked your idea of a religious songs album from BF, but it just wouldn't be complete without "Amazing Grace". And 'The Mathematical Genius of Bryan Ferry (with Roxy Music)' is pure genius on your part, just thinking how this might have validated BF's teaching at the girl's school of yesteryear. "Sorry to bore anyone, but there's no need for a new studio album, as I'm sure you'll agree..." Not at all a bore (and I wholly heartedly agree with a new studio album concept) - a round of applause to Simon for jolting our sleep with the overall topic, and to Christian's and Robert's humor and creativity! Now, does anyone think that Bryan Ferry's best cover, ever, is "I Put A Spell On You"? So much for esoterica. Best wishes.
