Sure, why not? I just can easily picture Ferry sitting at some ritzy hotel pool side with a snifter of brandy shouting along with a blaring boom box to the horror of passing hotel guest: 'Cause when I grab my sawed-off niggaz get hauled off. Barrel one! Tears your muthafuckin' flesh... Barrel two! Tear your fuckin' heart out your chest. You see, I'm quick to let the hammer go click on my Tech-9. So, if you try to wreck mine - fool, it's your bed time. Sheesh, he must have been hard pressed to come up with this one but I supposed it could have been worse. He could have said he really liked......The Darkness! Yes, i would say it was good. I do, however, find it a bit strange when she is singing the bit about the blowup doll. Perhaps they should have sang it the other way around? I don't know if anyone else has an opinion on that or is it just me that finds it strange? I do like the duet though. "It is, yes. Before hearing it, I hadn't been able to imagine the song working as a duet proper and wasn't planning on buying." Knowing the album wouldn't be promoted here, I preorded my copy from Amazon with considerable apprehension. It's my first Jane Birkin album purchase. The Birkin/Ferry duet is a treat for IEDHAHA admirers. I particularly like the Birkin/Alain Souchon duet on "Palais Royal" and then Francois Hardy is always worth a listen. So I'm happy with my decision to own the album. It would have been more fun to be in a place with promo banners, etc. It's about time Ferry did some duets. He chose well this time and he should seek out other opportunities IMO. He might also consider putting out remixes and mash-ups. It's an avenue through which a song can live on and on and on.....If BF is going to continue touring with essentially a fixed set-list, duets and remixes would offer something new and exciting to his tour. Best to all, Maggie ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Jun 2004 21:23:57 +0200 (METDST) From: Heather Marie Buch Subject: Re: [AVALON] Ferry interview details On Sat, 26 Jun 2004, tmoq wrote: > > 2) After being asked what he thinks of modern music he says he really > > likes.......Dr Dre. > > Sure, why not? It's authentic, passionate and derives from the soul music that Ferry likes so much. Some rap I have liked: The Pharcyde Public Enemy Schooly-D also that Jamaican dance hall rap like Shabba Ranks. It's good stuff! It was pretty good. The electronica works in this case, though I'm usually not a big fan of the genre....it's more subtle here...the way electronica should be, in my opinion. I listened while looking at spiderman comics online with my 4 year old son. I told him it was the "spiderman music" and he seemed satisfied with that (he's still naive about comics).
