He told me that they would draw a caracature of the person from a photo then model the doll on the caracature. I would presume that BF's dummy is stuffed in a box with Maggie Thatcher and Prince Phillip in the Spitting Images vaults somewhere. You would have thought that some lessons would have been learned after what happened with Jim Lawn running the "Information Service". Anyway it can't have escaped Ferrys notice that the two main fans websites are miles better than the official (lack of) effort. I think quite a kind likeness compared to some of the other grotesque puppets they had. I just wondered as I seem to recall some of them being sold/auctioned off at one point. Maybe it was only a selected few. 'I heard lots of songs we haven't done live for a while and will have to rehearse.' 2) After being asked what he thinks of modern music he says he really likes.......Dr Dre. I expect them to tentatively announce Graham Simpson's departure from Roxy Music within the next three years. To my mind vivaroxymusic.com (I don't have shares in the site honest!) has done such a great job of keeping the exclusives going (who can forget the Frantic cover art appearing there about a decade before anybody else had it?) that it really is the definative site and should be recognised as such by Ferry's management asap. At least the fans might be better armed with the news that the on/off concerts are taking place before they leave their homes.... It is, yes. It's a duet of Dream Home that cunningly disguises itself as pure throwaway pop but when the beeping electronica come to a quick close, you're left not just wanting more but also pondering the *sadness* of what was sung rather than its madness. Whether that was an intentional and skillful twist or not is hard to say but it certainly works. Where Ferry once sounded wired and wanton, he's now weary and helpless - and it's just beautifully done, Ferry these days doing weary the way Picasso did blue. I've heard Jane Birkin's voice struggle on some things in the past but she's outstanding here, her style made for the song. You'd never think that someone could sing Dream Home quite so *tenderly* and get away with it but she carries it off. And La Birkin's pronunciation of 'de luxe' is as defiantly English ('dee lucks') as Mr Ferry's was French - something funny going there, for sure. :) Before hearing it, I hadn't been able to imagine the song working as a duet proper and wasn't planning on buying but happened to be in Paris (not a regular haunt, in case you're wondering) on the week-end of its launch and FNAC was loyally piling 'em high and emphatically refusing to sell 'em cheap, relying instead on a valiant promo effort: posters, cutouts, prominent placement and allegedly limited edition packaging (for a small fee, sir). It did the trick. I'll admit that I've been listening a lot to the Dream Home duet and not much to the rest (the perils of digital jukebox software) but I began to put that right a couple of days ago.
