Like many of the songs on the White Album (or The Beatles to give it it's official title) Child Of Nature was written by Lennon whilst the Fabs were staying in Rishikesh with the Maharishi in the spring of 1968. When they were back in the UK, they assembled at George Harrison's home (sometime in May) and committed some of these new songs to tape, 23 to be precise, including two takes of Child Of Nature. Seven of the songs turned up on Anthology 3, but not this one, and it probably made it no further at the time because it was quite similar in sentiment to McCartney's superior Mother Nature's Son. You know the rest! There's loads of boots knocking around that feature these White Album demos, definitely worth checking out.
