Body language speaks volumes. It wasn't just the jump straight from Julia's Harp and band ensemble instrumental straight into TTOIA that gave the game away. Ferry came on and huddled stitched up tight, wrenching the lapels of his Dior suit around him like a couture vagrant left out in the rain, through the whole song. Then turning his back on the audience he counted the band out as quickly as he counted it in. We knew then something was definitely up. So we rattled through the rest of the set in 4 X 4 time, times two. It got ludicrous during Dance Away, which could have had the Chipmunks singing along and not feel out of place. We mock panted with exhaution at the end of it and the band fell about, but Ferry was adamant - he was off for his Night Nurse at the first chance. But really this was Mick Green's night. He got such an ovation after his solo on Cruel that Bryan was forced to introduce him early. We all gave him a big thumbs up at the end of the set and he pretended to have another attack and collapse. You really have to be feeling better if you can make jokes like that. And he looks all the fitter for his "episode", slimmer and far more relaxed. I think Mr F will have to listen to his body soon, and his recurring grumbling tonsils (well the gap where they used to be) and give touring a bit of a rest - or at least until he has something new to tour with, which will now probably be later in the year. As one wag put it, he'll be adding Harley Street, Petworth A&E and Lourdes to the endless tour. Meanwhile, as for tomorrow and Hampton Court, I would try and contact the venue beforehand, especially if you're travelling long distance just to be on the safe side. Even if Ferry's people gave the all clear now, there's no guarantee of anything as those who went to Middlesborough, Dundee and Sunday's gig will testify. I don't know about you lot, but I'm getting a rotten cough and sore throat myself....come on. come on let's get sick together. Nurse T. A break from incessent touring, a bit of time in the studio (its easier on the voice you know) and a Matronly cuddle (any volunteers?) would do the silly bugger a lot of good, rather than squeezing cash out of the public and fans for such little effort.
