I came back from the opera last night and turned on WXRT's rock talk show (Sound Opinions, in which the rock critics from the Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago Tribune do a Siskel-and-Ebert kind of thing for two hours). And they had a little feature on the Ayers, Cale, NIco, and Eno album "June 1rst 1974," which was thirty years ago last night. I had forgotten about this album. My copy seems to be missing. It was a one-off show with all kinds of odd people on it (MIke Oldfield, RobertWyatt). They played the chilling version of "The End," on the radio last night. Far more chilling than I remembererd. I don't think Live Aid 2 could live up to the original, both charity-wise and performer-wise. No doubt if Roxy Music was a part of it, they would be billed down under the likes of Robbie "Talent Vacuum" Williams. ;) . __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun.
