So I looked up the word pussyfooting and when other Swedes thought that it meant walking on or in a pussy I could correct them. (No one did that for the Swedish minor superstar band that fizzled after naming themselves Gangbang.) So I'm going to stop pussyfooting and state that I still like Eno's 70's output. I think that No Pussyfooting and albums similar to those imho are more like classical music, but I know little music theory. I'm sure classical music fans would disagree. I love all of the Eno ambient stuff I've heard - Thursday Afternoon, Music for Films, The Pearl. I need to hear "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" as a friend recommended it strongly. It's funny that there is a whole other subgenre of "ambient" or "trance" music, which always seems to have a techno beat, and to me sounds nothing like the Eno stuff. However - this is a TRUE STORY, I swear : I remember buying it, and, at the time, to promote it, Eno was interviewed on Radio, to chat about the Album. On the programme, and also in interviews in the music papers of the time - NME, Melody Maker etc - he claimed that whenever he brought a girl home, and played Side 1 of the Album, he said the effect was that they would always 'simply fall into my arms'. Being a 16 year old impressionable lad at the time, I was mightily impressed by this. I remember putting this to the test, by going out with a local girl from my class in school one night, bringing her home, and sneakily putting on the aforementioned 'Heavenly Music Corporation', and waited for the music to do its magic. Within about 10 minutes, she said "call that music !, what is that awful droning row" ?, and asked me to get her a taxi. Never trust a pop star. With no disrepect meant to our exceedingly charming Mr. Reece, I suspect Eno could have (and perhaps still could) put on a recording a jackhammers and the result would have been the same in the end. Manzo mentions, a few times, in early articles, of Eno's ermm, talent, with the ladies of the time. Thinking back to early interviews too, I remembered a respectable and highbrow journalist stopped in his tracks when asking Eno about his first solo album. Journo : "So, Eno, your first Solo venture, 'Here Come The Warm Jets'. What's it all about" ? Eno : "It's about pissing". Marvellous. Reecey... __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Fantastic ! Am playing it now, was lucky to get hold of an advance copy or 2, a couple of weeks back. Haven't liked the last few offerings from him, but I think the new one is great, and the best thing he's done in a long, long time. Current fave though, is the forthcoming newie from 'The Real Tuesday Weld', out next month I think, called 'I, Lucifer'. Different, but great. It was not until later years that something else then warm jetplanes in the desert came to mind. BF has been enjoying a romantic tryst in Venice with Katie Turner confirming that they are back together. Alongside a picture of KT two months ago, moving her things out of Ferry's home in West London, the couple are happy again in the back of a water taxi in Venice where they have been spending a few days at the #1,000 a night Cipriani Hotel before they boarded a private jet bound for England. Allegedly, Katie had felt BF was too much like the JG in the song; also allegedly he removed a pair of headphones from her pile of things waiting to be moved out, claiming they were his. But now as they smile for the camera, it's obvious that he's Falling In Love Again...
