He's never been my cup of tea I have to say, however my only chance to get to see my friend on this whirlwind trip was to accept her very kind invite to the Clapton after show party at the Hard Rock Cafe. Well, we're chatting away to a friend of my boyfriend who just happened to have be dragged down there too by a friend of his, when lo and behold up comes Sharon and Michelle - Ferry's backing singers of late. Turns our Sharon had invited my boyfriend's friend. Small old world eh? Sharon told me they're continuing on the Clapton tour and therefore won't be at the Summer concerts. But when I asked her about how the recording with Ferry was going she added that they would be joining the tour again in Autumn when the new material will be showcased. Nathan East (Clapton's bass player who played on both Taxi and Mamouna) was also there and spoke fondly of working with Bryan calling him very intuitive. But my highlight was a chap from Middlesborough who looked like a cross between Santa Claus and Roger Daltrey who used to play in a Band called The Paper Dolls many moons ago, he told me he'd seen The Gasboard support The Who at a Middlesborough pub called Mr McCoy's in 1964. If anyone had told me before setting off that the night would have offered up so many Ferry connections in one (I thought) unrelated room, I'd never have believed it.
