Hey All! My eagle eyed girlfriend found a wonderful Roxy related Gem in this last Sunday's New York Times, on the wedding announcement page, of all places. In the 'Vows' column there is a feature titled "Miriam Longchamp and Chris Rowley," with a great picture of a very cool looking, very attractive couple. Their story is prtty darn romantic: she is an american, he is a brit, and they met on a trip to Antarctica. seems she was impressed that he did not ask any of the usual New Yorker questions, and he was impressed that "Ms Longchamp, though an impressive reader, knew nothing about Roxy Music, for whom he serves as road manager." I tried to post a link, but the NYT server is finicky today. If anyone from the Roxy camp reads the list, please pass on our good wishes. Congrats! - --Andrew in Chicago ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 May 2004 15:42:27 +0200 From: "Sjaak Versluis" Subject: [AVALON] Covers? How Odd! If you are speaking of the May 2 Style section, it's not in my copy of the paper. However there is an article about Jackie Curtis as "Style Setter" As in: Jackie is just speeding away, thought she was James Dean for a day, a hustle here, a hustle there, New York City is the place where, she said "Hey Babe take a walk on the wild side". This is to coincide with the the release of the new documentary "Superstar in a Housedress". This was passed around a few years ago under the title "Once Upon A Really Good Time" which only contained 6 tracks and the quality was pretty bad. The quality of this recording is much better (as audience recordings go) and contains 11 tracks including the Amanda Lear intro. It`s not without it`s flaws but still worth a listen to those hard core fans interested in hearing an early show with Eno. You can go to http://www.pipeline.com/~tmoq/BQ.mp3 and download a "dial-up friendly" 30 sec. (360kb) snippet of Beauty Queen if you`re not familiar with audience recorded shows. The usual rules apply......the first 5 willing to make copies will get a copy and it will branch from there. If you don`t hear from me, someone got there before you. Track List: 1) The Pride and the Pain/Intro 2) Do The Strand 3) Grey Lagoons 4) Beauty Queen 5) Bogus Man 6) Ladytron(cut) 7) If There Is Something (cut) 8) Editions Of You 9) Re-Make/Re-Model 10) Pyjamarama 11) Virginia Plain I`m told that In Every Dreamhome a Heartache was also performed, but........
