To my knowledge Eno. He produced Devo's first album. And we all know that he was in Roxy Music. I've only read it once quickly, but I've got to say I'm quite surprised by O'LIst's claims of how much he influenced Ferry and the songs for the first album (almost to the extent of rewriting them). It may be true, but it's taken a long time for this influence to come to light, or at least I can't remember other references to it (although I don't by any chance compare myself to being an expert compared to some on this list). If true it has certainly cast the early days in a new light for me. For any kind hearted soul who may possible know, please answer this question that has vexingly crossed my mind many a time while listening to the wonderful and strong bass lines that are frequently present in many of Bryan Ferry's compositions: Why did Roxy Music and solo Bryan Ferry employ numerous bass players overtime rather than inducting any one of those very capable players into permanent band membership? Thank you for your time and answers. Best wishes. I have no knowledge but a couple of guesses. (1) Money -- Ferry has always been reluctant to share income with the other musicians in the band. Maybe it is cheaper to shift bassists constantly. (2) Loyalty to Graham Simpson. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 02:46:17 EDT From: Chandla911@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] US distribution - 1 of many BIRKIN, JANE - Rendez-vous 2004 album by Serge Gainbourg's muse is as vibrant and essential as ever.
