He had a ticket to see the Dolls warming up for Roxy Music in Manchester 1972. As young Morrissey waited by the stage to see his idols he was informed that the Dolls' apperance was cancelled due to the fact the the Dolls' drummer had died. Morrissey was devastated and still has the ticket. The New York Dolls' first drummer, Billy Murcia, did die from an overdose in London in 1972 after one too many night of excess leaving Jerry Nolan to step on drums and later punk history with The Heartbreakers. I met Jerry Nolan who live with his Swedish girlfriend first in Sweden during the mid-80's and formed his own band, the Tenerifa Cowboys, and then moved to New York before he too died on January 14, 1992 due to stroke/meningitis. Did Roxy Music play without The Dolls in Manchester 1972? - -- Daniel ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Apr 2004 19:40:59 +0200 From: "Charly" Subject: [AVALON] Streaming videos Bonjour =E0 tous, Few months ago I saved and shared Ferry's show in Basel AVO session = available in Real Player format at = http://www.avo.ch/onair/streaming_e.htm=20 I also promised that I will try to do the same as soon as possible with = other Roxy/Ferry streaming videos available on the net. So far, I didn't get the time to do it. By this week-end, I spend few = hours and it's my pleasure to tell you it's done. I saved all the videos listed at this address (Unfortunately some links = are dead): http://home.ix.netcom.com/~dfirmin/videos.html It includes for instance the funny interview from New Zealand, Jealous = Guy 1981, Ferry in Milano 1999 ... I attached a file with the directory of the CD I burned. You can watch = these clips exactly as from the net except you don't need to be = connected since you just read files saved on the CD with their "native = software", Real Media Plyar or Windows Media Player. I also added the Quick Time videos from www.bryanferry.com. Unlike = RealMedia and Windows Media videos these clips don't need special tricks = to be saved but I though it was nice to store all these videos on the = same CD. If anyone knows other videos somewhere on the net, let me know I will = update the CD. I would be pleased to share that CD and much more to trade it to = complete my audio boots collection. Un fraternel salut.
