I visited Bill Nelson's website, he has a handsome but quite ordinary-looking face, I don't think he is SO immediately recognizable, and if he was wearing a hat it would be that much more difficult, because he seems to have a rather large head. If you were a household name, whether you'd take kindly to someone you didn't recognize saying "Hello Heather" in a train station is debatable, right? That's what happened, here. I'll bet it happens all the time. Nelson himself admits that Bryan was already striding away when he mumbled "Bill Nelson..." and so wouldn't have heard him. If he had heard him, obviously having good manners, he would have turned around and apologised. It's just that I"ve read so many stories of people's encounters with BF in public places over the years, and seen all sorts of interviews, including that nutty one from New Zealand... he is invariably gracious, even if put on the spot or personally attacked. I think we can safely call what happened here an unfortunate miscommunication, I don't think it makes Ferry a snob the way Nelson is implying. I dunno guys...when Bryan does something stupid or insensitive I think he deserves to be called on it, just like anyone else, but in this particular case I think Nelson is assuming ill intentions where none were meant. And by sharing his thoughts with the public, he is making an awful lot more of it than needs to be made, just because his ego was apparently bruised by not being recognized. I always liked BeBop Deluxe too, but in a class with Roxy? Not in this lifetime... ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Apr 2004 20:35:34 EDT From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Re: Davy OList Interview Great interview! Nice to hear from one of the unsung heroes of Roxy Music. Full marks to John for what I hope will be the first in a series! Will Susie finally speak? Can he coax Graham Simpson into giving us some words? Is it too much to hope that Dame Fonzi Thornton might dish the dirt on Yannick, Ednah and Michelle? All eyes to Viva from now on!! I'm sure most of these have already been seen in England but none the less tonight on "Kiss me Kate". she was working late on a speech for the next day (for woman of yr,) when what is playing in the background. None other than Bryan Ferry singing "In the Midnight Hour". How appropriate for the occasion.-- Always, Marlana ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V9 #106 **************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
