Worse, the much-publicised celebrity playlists on iTunes by people known to like Roxy (I'm thinking in particular of Moby and Michael Stipe) included, obviously, only tracks available on the iTMS. Now that the first two Roxy albums have appeared, it would be good for Roxy to begin appearing as Influencers in other bands' listings. (Sadly, among their own Influencers is listed one David Bowie.) Still: it's pleasing to see the albums there and for new listeners, it's a great way to get beyond Avalon and Jealous Guy, neither of which have made it online yet. The following two links take you to the first two Roxy albums, tracks from which sell for US 99". The links will probably only work if you already have iTunes jukebox software installed on your Mac or PC. (It's a free download from itunes.com) Roxy Music: For Your Pleasure: Oddly, both albums carry the date of the remastered albums, and make no reference to original release dates. Apple has opted for the remastered versions. It's debatable how much of the benefit of the new masters is preserved when listening in 128 kbps AAC format, though the encoding they use is higher than you get from tracks you encode yourself using the iTunes app. The Roxy Music Biography on the store's site contains a few errors but is generally pretty good. Currently, tracks from the iTunes Music Store are only available for purchase and download to holders of US credit cards and perhaps those who have received gift certificates. Previews of all the 500,000 tracks plus the biographies, playlists and so on are available anywhere. The iTMS is expected to expand into Europe within the next few months. And are either of them as long as the version lined up for the Horoscope release?
