When I do , they are very much "on topic" and always about Bryan's music, either about upcoming live-shows/tv/fm or treeing live-recordings or maybe even talking about his or Roxy's records. I like Roxy Music and Bryan's music a lot, and that's why I stay on this list. What I don't like is the aggressive attitude between so many members. (If somebody found my comment on the "ticket prices" rude, then please forgive me. It was just a sigh from my heart.) ..and please don't answer with more aggresion, I'm a peaceloving man. (Not to belabor boredom, but sometimes flogging a dead beast is cathartic :) To Wit! via Scotty's post of 25 January 2004 entitled "Ferry's tour rider: "In today's 'Sunday Herald-Sun', there was a small article about the man himself - 'Soulful crooner Bryan Ferry likes to be a smooth, sharply dressed man, and his tour rider for the Music and Blues Festival (Melbourne) reflects just how image conscious he is. The stylish, former Roxy Music frontman has specifically requested a full length mirror in his backstage rooms. While most acts assume a mirror will be available, Ferry leaves nothing to chance. His rider also lists an iron and an ironing board as part of his personal requirements. If nothing else, he will be the most immaculately turned out performer at the festival. Ferry's tastes highlight his liking for a sophisticated, cultured lifestyle. He requires bottles of Dom Perignon champagne on ice backstage. He also has a preference for 'high quality' French wines. And fresh flowers in his dressing room are a must.'" Orchids can be costly and grand cru pricey, but how many 'bottles of Dom Perignon" are we talking about? Too late, I suppose, to 'suck up' any backstage passes! Ce la vie!!! Jest in a vacuum. We all could pick our own perfect list but we know he's always going to do JG, LST & LITD, but every tour he slips in an unexpected treat (Just Like You, Broken Wings) & I would be suprised if he didn't do a rarely heard track on the summer shows. Remember between the Avalon tour in '82 & the Mamouna shows in '94 he only played a few dates to prote Bete Noir, thats one tour in 12 years, during which time I would have gladly paid anything to see him live, so forgive me if I'm happy to see him perform anywhere. I am a bit concerned about the venues though, I'm still scarred after the Elton Hall riots in 2000, &the Belvoir Castle fight in 2002 & now I've found out that Thetford is aledgedly a centre for "doggin" please don't switch your interior lights on whilst in the car park..... Okay, All the grumbling about the setlist inspired me to go and do some research. So I just pulled out the setlist I peeled off the stage at my stop [Boston] on the Frantic tour, and compared it with Bangkok, a recent stop. 12 songs out of 20 are the same--but Bangkok got 6 songs Boston didn't get, and Boston got 9 songs Bangkok didn't get. So only 60% of the list is static. And even though it is the "Frantic" tour, only 3-4 songs actually are from the new album, and he even varies which ones, I like that. I was glad to hear Boys and Girls and Limbo vs. Wooly Bully and Shame Shame Shame. I'm not crazy about Tokyo Joe, he could have kept that one. Wish he played Love Me Madly instead. I was glad we got The Thrill of It All, a good tradeoff for Virginia Plain. I just looked at the Oslo setlist from September 2002, those lucky fans got Both Ends Burning and I Thought. It seems likely he is in some sense obligated to include Jealous Guy, Do the Strand, and Love is the Drug to satisfy the casual fans (and friends and spouses of serious fans) that are inevitably in the audience. So if you exclude those, he varies about half the setlist. Some artists tour with the EXACT same setlist night after night after night. I'll second that. Attendence is not compulsory, so if you don't like the prices or the setlist then don't go! Bryan will have to cover songs like JG and LITD for those who are not die-hard fans who analyse setlists. I for one want to see Bryan perform live and the prices and setlists won't put me off. Perhaps seeing him live is not so important to some people. And, as someone else said, he does throw in the odd suprise. It was great to hear Boys and Girls and Limbo live. If you want to see Bry live then go, and sure, make some suggestions as to what songs we would like to hear, but there is just tooooo much moaning about setlists and prices on this list. Yeah, but they charge you at least #5 more than if you phone the venue - phone number for forestry places is 01842814612.
