When I saw the guy come through the doors I was surprised to say the least. I wonder what his BF was like..............the mind boggles!!!! Cheers, Colette PS, I wish I could remember the other 3 names from his audition tape. I'm sure the said one of them was a singer from the 50's. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tracy Connell" To: Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2004 8:08 AM Subject: [AVALON] Stars In Their Eyes > Hiya! > > Did anyone see Stars in their Eyes (British talent show where people > impersonate famous singers) at the weekend? > > Well, there was a guy on there who had applied for the show about 5 times to > be 5 different people - one of whom was Bryan Ferry. His final 'jamais' is extremely drawn out, and for epitomizes his ability to somehow make a vocal stylization sound dramatic, heartfelt and tragic, and at the same time, in the sheer intensity of the delivery, a potentially ironic gesture. Maybe that's dialectics? At any rate, it's one of my favourite musical moments, ASFE being one of my favourite pieces of music anyway. Page 47 of the national newspaper has the story is its "society column" that Otis, eldest son of the Ferry couple, has been promoted to become Co-Master of the Hounds and Huntsman of the South Shropshire Foxhounds and therefore at 21 the youngest master in the UK. They manage to drop into the articke the arrest for stalking the Prime Minister's home with his pro-hunt stickers, the suspension from Eton of the younger brother for sending hate e-mail to an anti-hunt protester, Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry's jet set lifestyle, the pitponies, the sophisticated It-girl he married, the two homes, and the fact that it is Lucy who has passed on the love and feel for riding and thecountryside. All in a pretty short article, but I know a couple of listers who will want to get hold of a national newspaper with that headline and the pic of Bryan... Best wishes Richard Mills n/p Dr Who theme (my son's hooked!) ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V9 #17 *************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
